AwanBiru Technology Bhd has secured a three-year contract worth RM4.88 million from the education ministry for the procurement of Learning Management System licence subscription services to meet the requirements of the digital competence improvement course for education service officers.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 27): AwanBiru Technology Bhd (Awantech) has secured a three-year contract worth RM4.88 million from the Ministry of Education for the procurement of Learning Management System licence subscription services.

In a bourse filing on Wednesday, the group said the three-year contract seeks to meet the requirements of the digital competence improvement course for education service officers.

The contract represents Awantech's first major success in providing a digital learning platform, the group added.

Awantech, formerly known as Prestariang Bhd, has been categorised as an “affected listed issuer” by Bursa Malaysia following the termination of the membership of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Prestariang Systems Sdn Bhd, in the Microsoft Partner Network by Microsoft, in January 2021.

The group posted a net profit of RM404,000 in the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2023, compared to a net loss of RM1.39 million a year ago, attributed to higher sales from the online learning platform and lower operating expenses. Revenue fell 9% to RM16.47 million from RM18.1 million on lower revenue from software and services.

Shares in Awantech settled half a sen or 1.25% lower at 39.5 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM308.01 million.
