KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) Malaysia has announced the appointment of Datuk Ho Hon Sang of Equatorial Palms Sdn Bhd as president, and Datuk Zaini Yusoff of S P Setia Bhd (KL:SPSETIA) as its deputy president for the 2024/2026 term, effective June 29.

Ho is succeeding Datuk NK Tong, who held the post from July 2022. Tong had also been the acting president for about six months prior to his appointment.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Datuk Tong for his dedication and diligence over the past two and a half years in his efforts to elevate the property industry to greater heights. He has set the bar very high, and I am aware of the challenges that await me as the new Rehda president.

“But I am confident that with the guidance from Datuk Tong and the past presidents, as well as the support of the other national council members and Rehda members at large, I will be able to continue the legacy to our achievements as a responsive, respected, responsible and relevant NGO,” said Ho in a press statement issued on Monday.

During Tong’s tenure, he was actively involved in engagements with industry players, particularly the federal government, and was appointed to be part of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government’s panel of experts, Construction Industry Development Board’s board of directors, as well as Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s advisory board.
