1. Keep a list of all your financial and non financial assets. Make sure this list is updated regularly.

2. Who are your beneficiaries? Make the list.

3. Name your beneficiaries in your insurance policies and your EPF account.

4. Decide on how you wish to give your assets away. A simple will maybe like so:

State the specific amount or asset you wish to give to the named persons first.
After that, divide the rest in proportion as you desire to the named persons.

Example:

20,000 to be given to my sister Mdm A
200,000 to be given to my wife Mdm W
5,000 donation to School X
Property S to be given to Mr. P
Gold chain to Mr. T
Computer to Miss U

The balance of the assets will be divided in the following proportion to each of the named persons.

5% to Mr. O
30% to Mr. P
30% to Miss Q
15% to Mrs. R
20% to my wife Mdm W.

5. Get the will professionally written up.
