KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): Prolexus Bhd’s net profit rose 9% to RM7.65 million for the second quarter ended Jan 31, 2017 from RM7.02 million a year earlier, mainly on higher contribution from the group’s apparel division.

In its filing with Bursa Malaysia, Prolexus said the division also contributed to the 9% rise in revenue to RM108.88 million, from RM99.87 million.

The group did not propose any dividend for the quarter.

For the cumulative first six months of FY17, the group’s net profit dropped 4.5% to RM14.09 million, from RM14.75 million in the previous corresponding period. Revenue declined 4% to RM196.4 million, from RM204.55 million.

“Barring any significant economic changes and unforeseen circumstances, the group’s performance for the forthcoming quarters is expected to be challenging, due to uncertainties of the global economy,” said Prolexus.

Prolexus’ share price settled 2.1% lower at RM1.38 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM241.24 million.
