KUNMING, Jan. 26 -- Southwest China's Yunnan Province has built 18,500 5G base stations by the end of 2020, said Wang Yubo, acting governor of the province, while delivering a government work report on Tuesday at the ongoing annual session of the provincial people's congress.
In 2021, the province will speed up the construction of data center, artificial intelligence, industrial internet and Internet of Things (IoT), with the total number of 5G base stations reaching 50,000, the report noted.
Yunan will also improve the total bandwidth capacity of the internet and the coverage rate of gigabit-speed broadband this year, Wang said.
