Is Twitter looking to Facebook for inspiration? The social network of the little blue bird is apparently working on a new feature that would allow for the creation of groups on the platform.

If the idea is still in development, users could have a taste of what awaits them thanks to recent screenshots. For example, a user will be able to choose to share their tweet with everyone or a "community" without having to create several profiles.

Announced in February, the "Communities" feature will allow for the creation of groups on Twitter, as is already the case on Facebook. It was blogger and researcher Jane Manchun Wong who shared the first images of "Communities" on her own account.

From the looks of these images, a user will be able to choose to share their tweets on the platform either in a public way, or only with their "community," among the groups they become part of. A function that will allow the individual tweeting to better adapt their message to the target audience, but also to be able to express themselves on different topics without being afraid to spam all of their followers.

With “Communities”, Twitter could benefit from a renewed engagement from its users and at the same time make the user experience more convenient. Indeed, many users create different profiles on the platform for different purposes, such as separating their personal profile from their professional profile.

According to another screenshot shared by Jane Manchun Wong, the group page will feature a "Home" and "About" tab. Only members will be able to post their tweets and replies there. That said, all Twitter users will be able to see, quote and share tweets posted within the “community”.

For the moment, this feature is still in the testing phase and no date has been mentioned for a more general roll-out. Lately, Twitter has made a host of new announcements to improve the user experience on its platform both in terms of its use and its moderation.
