THE recently discovered gold mask from the Sanxingdui archaeological site - sporting similar exotic features to those of previously unearthed bronze face masks - has drawn enormous interest.

Located in south-west China’s Sichuan province, the Sanxingdui Ruins site dates back over 3,200 years. More than 1,000 artefacts were recovered in an excavation in 1986, including bronzeware with exotic markings, face masks with protruding pupils and an exquisite 3.95m-divine tree believed to have been worshipped as the ladder to heaven.

Striving to provide better living conditions for the animals at the zoo, Shen has introduced facilities like a bathing pool for elephants and a leafy playground for orang utans.

To overcome the zoo’s financial difficulties posed by the pandemic, Shen has enabled online animal adoption whereby donors will receive regular video updates about their adopted animals and adopters could also visit them at the zoo. Thanks to this fundraising programme, the zoo got to overcome its financial challenges.

Over in China’s southern frontier area at the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park is expecting great things happening with the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership free-trade agreement.

The China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park is a cooperative project between the Chinese and Malaysian governments. Since 2012, it has made huge contributions to promoting bilateral economic collaboration such as the thriving trade in specialty commodities like durian and bird’s nest.
