VW software to alter emissions breaches EU law - EU court adviser
BRUSSELS - Software used by Volkswagen AG to alter pollutant emissions based on the outside temperature and altitude breaches EU law and cannot be justified by its role to protect the engine, an adviser to the EU's top court said on Thursday.
Judges at the Court of Justice of the European Union typically follow opinions of the advocate general, but are not bound to do so.
