Former Miss Massachusetts 2016 has gone viral on TikTok after calling out “locker room talk” chats from co-workers that were mistakenly screen-shared with her during a Teams meeting.

Whitney Sharpe uploaded a video of her on the Teams call with the caption “When a vendor accidentally shares his group Teams chat and it’s all nasty things about me. It’s 2023 can this stop.” See the full video here.

The video has since been viewed over 12 million times.

In the start of the video, Sharpe pauses the initial conversation on the call to address the messages about her.

“First of all, if we’re going to continue working together, I want to work with a woman sales representative, because I don’t wanna have to see locker room talk about myself when you’re sharing screens,” she said.

“It’s an inexcusable mistake,” the voice on the Teams meeting answered.

Sharpe shared in a follow up video on TikTok that she received an apology email from the company’s VP of Sales.

“I think this could have been written a lot better between me and you,” she told followers. She also explained she wished the VP apologised over a phone call.

Sharpe was also informed the company did not have a female sales representative “skilled enough” to work with her, like she had requested. Sharpe called it a “red flag” in her TikTok.

In an interview by NBC10 Boston, Sharpe said she would have liked to address “locker room talk” as something different.

“I think locker room talk is putting a pretty bow on something that is not pretty,” she told the outlet. “I should’ve called it for what it was. I should’ve said, ‘I do not stand for sexual harassment.’”
