Man sentenced for helping US teacher catfish hundreds of students for explicit photos
A man has been sentenced for crimes connected to a scheme in which he helped a teacher at a private Pennsylvania school to collect sexually explicit photos from minors.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Kray Strange of Carthage, New York was sentenced for 33 years in prison for exploiting over 200 victims, in coordination with Andrew Wolf, a teacher at the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia. Wolf was sentenced last month to nearly 39 years in prison.
Strange had previously gone through court-mandated sex offender treatment for offenses committed as a minor.
Prosecutors said that Strange offered to help Wolf coerce young boys into sending them sexually explicit photos, and sent more than 27,000 messages and 4,000 images files over social media. Strange would often use explicit photos of the boys as blackmail to coerce them into sending more, prosecutors said, and his targets extended beyond students at Wolf’s school.
Strange continued to solicit the photos even after Wolf was arrested, prosecutors said.
In addition to his sentence of 33 years, Strange was also ordered to register as a sex offender, was prohibited from owning an electronic device that wasn’t approved by his probation officer, and was ordered to pay restitution to his victims from the money he earns while in prison.
