Good.
The waft of fragrant rice & aromatic sambal fills the air.
It tantalises your tastebuds.
You stop in your tracks.
And there, right in front of you in bold letters is Santan & T&Co.
You recall just having Nasi Lemak Pak Nasser and a good cuppa coffee on your flight to Bangkok.
Now it’s on the ground just a few metres ahead of you.
That’s right, your favourite in-flight meals are coming to Klang Valley!

Now that is the imagery playing in my head as I envision you discovering our first Santan & T&Co outlet in December 2019.

A year ago, when I first conjured the idea of turning Santan and T&Co, our in-flight food choices into a fast-food restaurant, everyone thought I was crazy.

Just as they thought 18 years ago when I said I was starting an airline. Look how that turned out!

Santan and T&Co are a highly efficient fast food chain that specialises in Asean dishes at affordable prices.

OUR VISION

Fuelled by our 'Dare to Dream' spirit, the idea was simple and the vision bold: Santan and T&Co will be a highly efficient fast food chain that specialises in Asean dishes at affordable prices. It will the first Asean fast food franchise.

It will bring people together through our shared love for Asean food under one roof and trigger wonderful memories from your trips with us to your favourite Asean countries and beyond. Along the way, we also hope to empower the Asean communities.

How will Santan and T&Co be different from your regular neighbourhood restaurant?

We offer the best quality in taste and service

  1. Santan and T&Co will offer a fixed number of menu options. This ensures that we offer meals that are consistent without compromising on taste and quality. We take pride in using local ingredients sourced from around the Asean region to create that uniquely Asean flavour for you. For example, our T&Co Asean Blend drip coffee combines the best beans from the region including Laos, Vietnam and organic, shade-grown coffee beans from Muser Coffee Hill, Thailand.
  2. The fixed menu also translates to a targeted maximum serving time (from when orders are placed to when customers take their seats) of 4 minutes. You will be able to spend more time eating your meals and socialise instead of spending that time waiting for your food.

We are your next 'digital' restaurant

  1. Food preparation process will be automated as much as possible. While the involvement of these devices will include basic tasks at first, the ultimate aim is for the installation of machines that are able to interact with most kitchen equipment, such as blenders, whisks, knives and hobs. In other words, we aim to have our own ‘robotic kitchen’ in the near future!
  2. You will be able to experience a seamless and convenient digital journey at our digital ordering facilities. You will make your orders at digital kiosks, while a camera scans your face to process payment in less than a second.
  3. These kiosks serve an additional key function - they provide us with important data. Our artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are able to understand each customer's meal preferences, enabling it to customise the menu displayed for your next order optimally. Simultaneously, we get a better understanding of food consumption patterns, which lets us do better forecasting for ingredient orders and thus, reduce wastage.

We value the importance of sustainability

On the environmental front, we plan to use eco-friendly recyclable packaging. Energy-efficient digital screens will be installed so that menu options can be changed from time-to-time without having to print new physical menu cards. This way, you can enjoy great meals at affordable prices, in a restaurant that values the sustainability agenda.

OUR SOCIAL IMPACT CREATION

Support local entrepreneurs

As part of Santan and T&Co's expansion plans, we aim to achieve 100 franchisee-operated restaurants in the next 3-5 years.

  • We understand that the experience of starting a restaurant can be daunting and challenging, especially for budding local entrepreneurs. That is why Santan and T&Co's franchise-related fees will be affordable to provide opportunities to those who wish to venture into the food and beverage industry but are hindered by the high costs associated with opening and operating a franchised restaurant.

Soon, we will also be launching our virtual kitchen to assist local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs and even housewives to operate off-site kitchens to create, test and launch their food products. With our delivery services, they will be able to reach out to a greater customer base across Malaysia.

By leveraging on our big data, our partners will also be able to identify and cater to any unmet demand for a particular cuisine, at the right time of the day, with the optimal price point.

Create job opportunities

Most importantly, Santan and T&Co will contribute to greater economic growth by generating job opportunities, through our outlets, as well as our partners.

  • As the number of franchised restaurants increases, more employment opportunities will be generated in tandem. This would not only apply to our restaurants as we expect positive cascading effects to our partners along the whole supply chain.

Opening a Santan and T&Co restaurant is a dream come true for me.

Looking forward to serving you soon!
