Of late there have been a hive of activity of stock tips groups (paid and foc) using the Facebook, Whatsapp, Wechat and Telegram social media app. I say (most) of these groups are usually not more than a front for a stock pump and dump scam. Remember how this works ....
  • The pumper buy up a stock in advance, usually choosing a cheap “penny stock.”
  • The pumper start spreading the word about the “promising” stock, aiming to “pump” up the stock and get people excited about potential gains.
  • Investors start pouring money into the investment and the price starts to rise.
  • The pumper start the next round of “pumping” the stock—and point to the rising price and trading volumes as evidence of its strong performance, which inflates the price even more.
  • The pumper keep it up until eventually “dumping” their shares for a huge profit and leaving investors scrambling to get rid of dropping stock as the price plummets.
Some stock tips groups charge a fee to be a premium member, which let's paid members know ahead which stocks the pumper is pumping in advance ...I think it is a great idea ... ...the premium members get to make some great profits ....and the stock pumper get a pool of motivated buyers of the stock he is dumping ...plus an extra monthly and/or yearly fees as well ...

And they are getting super professional too ....they are coming up with beautiful technical analysis, fundamental analysis and take profit, cut loss etc on the stock ....

This article is not to judge whether this is right or wrong as I believe all of us are adults able to think properly but just a friendly reminder on what you are getting yourself into .....Adios.

That's why one need to check the recommended stock first b4 buying, check from different sources. but if you want to ride the bandwagon, then prepare to take the risk, cannot blame others :).

One person willing is willing to beat, the other person is willing to be beaten -- Chinese sayings. So those followers of these scams please when you blame the whole world remember to blame yourself. Majority of the stock investors are always losing money. So none are innocent.

I think the only type of group / individual that may not fall into such category are those who provide:

(1) Fundamental evaluation to tell how cheap a company is trading based on a very reasonably expectations in its future earnings, plus

(2) Providing an additional information on why the future earnings can be better. i.e answering the question - why only me can see this mismatch in pricing?

All the rest would unfortunately fall into pump & dump category. So far in i3 I only see a few...like Icon..Yistock...and a few more doing it..

When you understand the difference between investing and speculating or gambling, you will be able to avoid most if not all the pump and dump schemes.

http://www.investlah.com/forum/index.php/topic,50774.0.html Look through this thread. I opined this was a pump and dump scheme. There are many lessons one can learn from this.

It should be essential, therefore, for anyone engaging in financial operations to know whether he is investing or speculating and, if the latter, to make sure that his speculation is a justifiable one.

funny la... You must understand sometime author also cannot predict the changes. It is clear that situation always changed in this market.

You just have to adapt it and move on. This is how you survive in this market.

Profit or loss. You are the one responsible to it. Not the authors. Stop being lazy to follow the market trend and blame on authors.

Authors responsible is to share information.

kalau pakai "margin of safety" lebih selamat...tips awal tahun 2015 yang saya pakai semasa melabur kat bursa.. kalau ikut saja orang beli saham melonjak semasa melabur sudah tentu rugi besar... setakat ini perlu berhati-hati terhadap volume kat graph yang tiba-tiba naik mendadak tanpa mengira asas-asas penting "fundamental"...banyak yang rugi besar macam saham exporter hari tu...untung paling besar adalah saham "construction" di malaysia...
