PETALING JAYA: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has hit out at former DAP member Hew Kuan Yau for allegedly calling Malays who sympathise with the plight of China's Uyghurs as "radicals".
"Labelling Malays who support the Uyghur community as 'radical'. If this is not racism, I don't know what is," the Youth and Sports Minister posted on Facebook and Twitter.
The Muar MP had previously chided Hew in 2016, when the latter posted on Facebook that: "The South China Sea belongs to China. Don't oppose China just because you're anti-communist".
Syed Saddiq's post included several pictures, including an excerpt from a controversial comic book.
The comic book made headlines recently after former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak alleged that it was being distributed in schools.
The Education Ministry has issued a ban on the distribution of the material, while police said they are taking statements from relevant parties on the matter before taking the next course of action.
Hew, on his Facebook page, defended the comic book, saying its aim was to educate the students on the belt and road initiative.

but Malaysia ok lah.....
if there is more respect, more patience, more understanding, Malaysia's problems can be solved, but not going to be easy or guaranteed.....these are very deep rooted problems with no easy solution and the world situation does not make it easier. As for Mazlee, some times he disappoints me but he is trying his best. Mazlee is a liberal intellectual, not a seasoned politician, Mahathir probably did not make a mistake in appointing Mazlee......................but critics every where, very tough job
so why syed siddiq and mazlee attracts so many critics? u think the critics smarter? more knowledge? better people? I don't think so..............u think siddiq and mazlee are corrupt? I don't think so...................u think they are anti Chinese? I don't think so................
