KLANG: There is a high chance that four of the six Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) assemblymen in Selangor will be ditching their party for PKR.

The four - Sallehudin Aminuddin (Kuang), Mohd Shaid Rosli (Jeram), Harumaini Omar (Batang Kali) and Adhif Shan Abdullah (Dengkil) - had told a press conference last week that they were in support of the Pakatan Harapan Selangor state government.

This was in spite of Bersatu leaving Pakatan to join forces with Barisan Nasional and PAS recently to set up Perikatan Nasional.

They have now submitted a statutory declaration stating their support in black-and-white as requested by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Selangor Bersatu chief Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari said the four were free to do what they wanted as they were part of a democratic system.

He also added that whether or not they have recorded their support for the Pakatan state government in black-and-white also mattered.

"If they haven’t given anything in black and white, there is no issue and they can remain in the party but if they have tendered in the requested statutory declarations, then we have to think about their positions in Bersatu," he added.

Abdul Rashid said he will prepare a report on the matter and forward it to party headquarters for the necessary measures to be taken.

"But I will also be meeting the Prime Minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Bersatu president) tomorrow to discuss our four Selangor assemblymen," said Abdul Rashid on Wednesday (March 11).

When contacted, Amirudin’s political secretary Borhan Aman Shah said the four Bersatu assemblymen had already submitted individual statutory declarations on their support for the Pakatan state government.

Meanwhile, Harumaini also confirmed that they had tendered in the statutory declarations.

To a question if they would be jumping party, he said that such a need has not occurred at this juncture.

"We have not thought about it at the moment but with our support for the state government, what we are looking at is PKR + four in the state legislative assembly," he added.

On the possible action that may be initiated against them by Bersatu, Harumaini said they will just wait and see what happens.

There are currently 19 PKR, 16 DAP, eight Amanah, six Bersatu, five Barisan Nasional, one PAS and one independent assemblymen at the state legislative assembly.
