IPOH: Although interstate travelling has been allowed for those who want to go home, some have chosen to wait for the movement control order (MCO) to be lifted before embarking on their journey.

They are delaying their trip to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19 and to travel with peace of mind.

Executive Ahmad Nazmi Mansor said he does not want to risk contracting and spreading Covid-19 or other diseases if he returns to his hometown in Batu Gajah.

“I’m staying in Sungai Buloh, which is under Gombak and next to Petaling Jaya. Both areas are red zones, and I don’t think it is safe to return to Batu Gajah, ” he said.

Ahmad Nazmi said he would only apply for interstate travelling permission when there were no more cases in the country or when allowed freely to do so.

“If I am lucky enough this year, I will get to see my family two days before Hari Raya, ” he said.

Physiotherapist Siti Zulaikha Nordin, 27, who works in Ipoh, said she had no plans to return to her hometown in Perlis during the interstate travelling period.

“I am working full time, so returning home is not possible, ” she said.

Siti Zulaikha said she was prepared to celebrate Hari Raya with her housemates if the MCO was extended again.

“It will be just a small celebration. I will just wear last year’s clothes and I’ve also bought some cookies online.

“I’ve told my family about this and they were a bit sad, but they understand, ” she said.
