PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional leaders have vowed to establish world-class governance and meet the aspirations of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

This is part of a five-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) endorsed by the respective component party leaders in support of Perikatan through political collaboration.

Prime Minister and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin endorsed the MoU together with Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, PBS president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili and STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

The MoU was aimed at ensuring inclusive and world-class good governance and administration at the federal and state levels to safeguard the rakyat's welfare and interest, as well as ensuring prosperity and harmony.

They also promised progress, economic revival and development. The leaders also vowed to strengthen the spirit of sharing and togetherness between Sabah, Sarawak, and the peninsula in realising the aspiration and objectives of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

They also vowed to defend the supremacy of the Federal Constitution, sovereignty of the Malay Rulers, the principles of Rukun Negara, and assuring the welfare and interest of all Malaysians regardless of race and religion.
