KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah advises members of Parliament to fully support the 2021 Budget for the sake of harmony and the rakyat's livelihoods as well as for economic recovery, all of which have suffered due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the King stressed that the budget due to be tabled in Parliament soon was important to the government and the authorities, particularly frontliners to continue implementing policies and carry out efforts to curb the pandemic.

Ahmad Fadil said Al-Sultan Abdullah also called upon all MPs to respect the decree issued asking for all forms of political dispute to cease, and to instead focus on the rakyat's welfare and the nation's harmony so the 2021 Budget can be passed without disruption.

The budget is set to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat Nov 6.

"His Majesty also reminds MPs that political squabbling for personal interest would not benefit the country and the rakyat would become victims at a time the country is still battling threats brought on by Covid-19."

Ahmad Fadil said the King made this decree after an audience with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasson for the pre-Cabinet meeting at Istana Negara today.

The audience which lasted for more than an hour from 8am today saw Al-Sultan Abdullah being briefed on the 2021 Budget.

He said the King expressed hope that the budget would focus on economic recovery and for the good of the rakyat who were affected by the outbreak.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed his confidence in Muhyiddin's leadership to helm the country's administration at this time of crisis.

KUALA LUMPUR: Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz today expressed his confidence that Budget 2021 will not be politicised and will have the full support of Members of Parliament for the common good.

The minister also voiced hope that economic recovery would be achieved by next year.

According to Tengku Zafrul, Budget 2021 will build on the momentum of economic recovery that started in May, as well as through all the economic stimulus packages, namely the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin), Additional Prihatin SME Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin SME+), National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana) and Prihatin Supplementary Initiative Package (Kita Prihatin).

He cited the reminder by Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to stop all politicking which has disrupted the country's stability.

Tengku Zafrul further noted that the King also stressed that Budget 2021, to be tabled in Parliament, is very important for the people in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and reviving the country's economy.

"To this end, I would like to share that my colleagues at the Finance Ministry and I are committed and dedicated in our efforts to provide a comprehensive Budget 2021 that focuses on the people's wellbeing, business continuity and economic resilience," he said when presenting the 27th Economic Stimulus Implementation and Coordination Unit Between National Agencies (Laksana) report through his Facebook page, today.

"Let us work together for the sake of our beloved Malaysia," the minister added.
