KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — The price of crude palm oil (CPO) will stay elevated for quite some time with the average price for the year to trade within RM3,400 to RM3,600 per tonne, said palm oil trader David Ng.

He said the prices would be supportive in the near term, with RM4,000 as a key psychological support level.

“The CPO price is expected to be in the new normal range whereby the price will stay high for quite some time.

“However, I do not see it (the price) to go beyond the RM5,000 per tonne level,” he said during the East Malaysian Palm Oil Futures (FEPO) contract pre-launch webinar today, hosted by Bursa Malaysia.

During the question and answer session, Ng noted that the commodity is entering into peak season but production issues are hampering overall yield and support prices.

On production, he said the golden crop’s output is estimated to touch 18.7 million tonnes (high) or 18.3 million (low) for 2021, which is about a six per cent reduction from last year.

The webinar was in conjunction with Bursa Malaysia Derivatives plan to launch the FEPO, a new palm oil futures contract, in the third quarter of this year.

Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Bhd chief executive officer Samuel Ho reportedly said that the new contract mirrors most of the Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) specifications, with enhancements made to benefit East Malaysian palm oil players.

Sabah and Sarawak contribute about 45 per cent of Malaysia’s crude palm oil production, and the FEPO would allow traders in the nation’s two largest palm producing states greater price discovery and a viable option for physical delivery, he said.

In this regard, the exchange seeks to launch FEPO as an entirely separate contract from FCPO.

The FEPO will have similar contract specifications with three exceptions; trading hours, delivery points, and speculative position limits. — Bernama

RHB analysis LAST week was RM3,200( for 2021 ). Thus remaining 2 Half at Rm2,300. However ..Now at Rm 3,400 to 3,600 ( for 2021 ). Thus ... Say 3600x2 - 4100( Ave 1H of 2021) = Rm3,100 for 2H 2021. Current Price is Rm4000 ( for JulY 2021). So .... remaining Aug till Dec 2021 at Rm 2,500 to 3,400 ??? LoL .... NOT likely to DROP below Rm3,500 ( For REST of 2021 ). PS:- Total Amateur about CPO here !!!

Palm oil prices will stay elevated due to these powerful reasons

1. Us Fed money printing will debase paper currency value and lift up value of real assets and commodities which man cannot print at will

2. Drought in USA depletes Soy and corn

3. Floods in China

4. Climate change pivoting renewable energy for biodisel support soy and Palm oil

5. Malaysia MCO prevent importation of Indon fruit harvesters

All these are supporting factors for high palm oil prices

Can expect palm oil bull run soon
