KUALA LUMPUR: DAP deputy secretary-general Teresa Kok hopes newly appointed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is willing to work with the opposition.

In her Facebook post, Kok said the move (of working together) was to bring about reforms, be it on policies, laws, and various sectors in the country.

"This includes efforts to address the Covid-19 pandemic.

"He must show that he is a leader for all Malaysians, with missions and visions," she said, while extending her congratulations to Ismail Sabri on his appointment.

Yesterday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has consented to Ismail Sabri being appointed as the ninth prime minister.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in a statement, said the King determined that the Bera MP had garnered 114 nominations from members of parliament, thus giving him sufficient majority to form a government.

Ismail Sabri took his oath of office as Malaysia's ninth prime minister before the King at Istana Negara at 2.28pm today.

Lady, your hope will be dashed! Opposition's strength will be diminished, unfortunately.
