GEORGE TOWN: Ten witnesses have been called up by police to assist investigations into DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for allegedly breaching his home quarantine.
State police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the ten witnesses included six individuals who made the police reports, the state assembly secretary, northeast district health officer as well as the north Seberang Prai district health officer.
"We are still investigating the case before taking further actions.
"We have recorded Lim’s statement on Friday (Sept 10) after he completed his home quarantine order," he said during a press conference.
On Wednesday (Sept 8), the youth wings of Penang MCA and Gerakan lodged a police report against the former finance minister for allegedly attending the Penang state assembly meeting when he was supposed to self-quarantine at home.
Lim said he had been falsely accused of going out in public to distribute food parcels to his constituents on Sept 2, 4 and 8 in his Facebook posts and described it as untrue.
He added that the Health Ministry officially issued on Sept 6 a home self-quarantine order from Sept 1 to Sept 10 requiring him to wear the pink wristband.
