KUALA LUMPUR: The 15th General Election (GE15) is the best stage to end the political career of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Barisan Nasional (BN) communications director Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said the two had been ruining the country for a long time.
Berita Harian reported that Shamsul Anuar said this following Perak PH chairman Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa's statement, who said the people in Perak were lucky because Anwar had decided to contest in the state.
Anwar, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and former Port Dickson member of parliament, recently announced that he would contest the Tambun parliamentary seat in the upcoming general election.
Shamsul Anuar said the PKR president had no merit in Tambun and was not a valuable asset to the country. As such, he said the election was a golden opportunity for the people in Perak to end Anwar's political career.
"Let Tambun create history by showing that Anwar has lost his momentum. By defeating Anwar, it does not mean we are giving victory to Bersatu (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia), as the party must be defeated as well.
"We are confident that there will be a three-cornered fight, which will benefit BN candidates," said Shamsul Anuar, who is also an Umno supreme council member.
He said the presence of Anwar in Tambun would boost the motivation and spirit of the Perak BN election machinery to work harder.
"I hope the people will realise that the PH leadership, including Anwar, have been constantly switching constituencies as they didn't work for the people in their respective constituencies.
"That's why they moved from their constituencies. Anwar, from Port Dickson, has moved to Tambun. So, I say to the voters in Tambun, avoid any misstep."
