TELUK INTAN: Petty traders and hawkers have been reminded not to abuse local authority licences, or they will face legal action, said Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming today.

He said in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's commitment to champion the plight of hawkers and petty traders under the purview of Kuala Lumpur City Hall, other local authorities should also follow suit.

"All parties are reminded not to abuse local authority licences. If anyone rents (the licences) to foreigners, legal action will be taken," he said after opening the Urban Community Sustainability Programme here.

On Friday, Anwar said City Hall would revoke the licences of traders and hawkers who leased them out to third parties, including foreigners.

He said the government and City Hall were looking at methods to ensure the rules were followed for the benefit of traders and hawkers. -Bernama

Petty trades gets the licence but lets foreign workers to run their businesses(plural).
That is why they need foreign worker to manage their business while they go to real jobs. This is abuse of foreign workers. Primary reason to recruit foreign workers was to address shortages in 3D jobs, but it is not the case. Malaysians are abusing this policy while shortchanging real Malaysian jobseekers. Employment rule and conditions of companies need microscopic analysis. Modern day slaves are employed everywhere.
