KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no viable alternative for Chinese voters in the next 40 to 50 years, as the country is currently in an era of DAP political hegemony, said former Rembau member of parliament Khairy Jamaluddin.

"While Malay voters are divided into three or four (parties), we are now in the era of DAP political hegemony.

"DAP will continue to win comfortably in Chinese-majority urban areas. The reality now is that DAP can do anything, including working with Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi; Chinese voters will still contribute 95% of support to them." Khairy said in a Facebook posting today.

He said that even if Chinese voters were disappointed, they just chose not to turn out in the Pulai by-election. However, for the general elections, they will certainly turn out to vote for DAP because the stakes are higher and more important than the by-election.

"For the bunch of Chinese voters that no longer have a red line over corruption issues, they would just blindly vote for DAP or candidates supported by DAP, even if it means removing the concept of 'Malaysian Malaysia'," he said.

Commenting on certain Chinese voters who claimed that there were no 'viable' options for them, Khairy condemned the fact that Chinese voters had the option to vote for Muda yet they refused to consider voting for them.

The former health minister further mentioned that Najib Razak's first term was known for his 'liberal' approach towards the 1Malaysia concept, economic liberalisation, including additional allocations for Chinese schools, yet the Chinese voters do not buy into that.

"This was all before the 1MDB scandal, however Chinese voters still voted for DAP until Utusan Malaysia released the controversial headline, "What else does China want?"
