A case of Cabinet ministers not respecting the PM or the PM fails to control his Cabinet ministers

THE unity government led by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is made up of ministers and deputy ministers who are either not serious of are incompetent in carrying out their duties.

PAS Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden who made such claim further hit out at the failure of some ministers and deputy ministers to fulfill their responsibilities to the people as reflected by their lackadaisical attitude towards their Dewan Rakyat commitments.

He expressed regret that the number of cases when ministers and their deputies are not present at Dewan Rakyat or arrived later than the scheduled question-and-answer (Q&A) session have been on the rise.

As it is, the government once again “created history” in the Parliament today when a question in the queue had to be postponed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker

In fact, a question about Orang Asli that should have been answered by the Rural and Regional Development Minister (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi or his deputy Datuk Rubiah Wang) during a Special Chamber session yesterday (Nov 1) was answered by the Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah.

Prior to this, there was an instance last March when Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying was unable to prepare on time the reply to a question posed by Pengkalan Chepa MP Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary.

“If they don’t show seriousness to the Parliament or the Dewan Rakyat as the highest place to formulate policies in the country, what degree of effort can we expect from our Cabinet ministers?” Arfan was quoted as asking by HarakahDaily.

“We carry the voice of the people. We drafted the questions and we sent them early. We adhere to the Meeting Rules. We stick to the parliamentary affairs. But why can’t they obey?”

Venting his frustration further, the newly-minted PAS Youth chief then sought an explanation from the Anwar and his Cabinet as to what had actually transpired.

“Why isn’t there a good arrangement by sorting out the turn or attendance of the minister? Is there nobody to monitor the minister? Or so that the deputy minister turn up on time to seriously answer what was raised? Why do I see this PM failing to control the Cabinet and his Cabinet ministers?” berated the political secretary to Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

“Does the Cabinet Minister not respect the PM or is the PM unable to manage his Cabinet ministers because he is busy dealing with other matters abroad?” - Nov 2, 2023

A PM who doesn't respect public interest deserves snubbing by MPs

GE16 better hold earlier than 2027 to judge whether PM-X still got his so-called "mandat rakyat" after 1 year as PM?
