CIMB Bank launches online loan scheme backed by EPF Account 2

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 7): CIMB Bank Bhd has launched a new online personal loan scheme called the Cash Plus Personal Loan Account 2 Support Facility for eligible members of the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), with a low introductory interest rate of 4.5% per annum.  

The scheme will allow EPF members to apply for personal financing of up to RM50,000, subject to their EPF Account 2 balance that must have a minimum balance of RM3,000.  

With a repayment tenure of up to 10 years, the scheme is aimed at providing additional financial options and flexibility for EPF members, namely those aged between 40 and 55 with a minimum gross income of RM2,000, who may have cash flow needs or financial goals to achieve. 

The recently announced National Energy Transition Roadmap outlines Malaysia’s approach to navigating a just energy transition to address the energy trilemma of ensuring energy security, affordability and sustainability.

According to CIMB, applicants can check their eligibility and submit their applications through an online platform, with no need for physical documents or branch visits.  

CIMB Group chief executive officer of group consumer and digital banking Effendy Shahul Hamid said that the Cash Plus Personal Loan Account 2 Support Facility is a part of the group’s commitment to ensuring all members of society have access to financial services and are empowered to make financing decisions based on their needs. 

He added, “To complement this, CIMB is also offering an attractive introductory interest rate at a 4.5% fixed rate per annum, which stands as one of the most competitive rates available in the market, providing our customers greater value and flexible financing options."  

At Thursday's noon break, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd was one sen or 0.17% lower at RM5.74 a share, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM61.22 billion.
