PAS appears to be the most desperate to become the government in the alleged Dubai Move plot to seize Putrajaya, according to Amanah communication director Khalid Samad.

The former Shah Alam MP highlighted that PAS with the highest number of MPs in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition is seemingly ready to barter the position of prime minister with others. This strategic move, he argued, lays bare PAS’ desperation to reclaim political power.

“In this matter, I see PAS as the most desperate. Although they have many MP seats, they are willing to offer it to others to become PM as long as they can form the government. The Dubai Move is supposedly to offer it to GPS so that they can become the PM. (But) Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg says it’s just a waste of time. They think we are foolish.

“The first step is for you (PAS) to support him (Abang Jo). Once the government is formed, anytime you want to change (you can do it) because you have a significant number of seats.

“But this is where we see PAS as the most desperate, wanting to become the government so much that they are willing to offer it to anyone as long as the unity government can be brought down,” he said during the Takde Skrip: Langkah Ke Laut segment on Facebook Media Perpaduan last night (Jan 9).

Khalid also drew attention to what he perceives as a lack of understanding of democracy within the Opposition, emphasising that in a democratic system, once a government is elected and established, both the government and the opposition should collaborate for the country’s development rather than merely seeking opportunities to overthrow the existing administration.

“An opposition that is loyal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Permaisuri Agong means they prioritise the interests of the country. Once the election is over, whoever is chosen as the government is the government. They will strive to develop the country, while the opposition acts as a check and balance.” - Jan 10, 2023
