Sultan Ibrahim arrives at Istana Negara, welcomed by PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor safely arrived at Istana Negara at 10.40am on Wednesday (Jan 31) to take the oath of office as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara on Wednesday (Jan 31).

His Majesty was greeted on arrival by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Sultan Ibrahim then inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the 1st Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment.

Earlier, the private plane carrying His Majesty from the Senai International Airport in Johor landed at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Air Base in Subang, near here, at around 9.40am.

Sultan Ibrahim was welcomed upon arrival by the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin.

Accompanying His Majesty was Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin as minister-in-attendance.

Thousands of people also gathered outside the RMAF air base to welcome the arrival of Sultan Ibrahim, waving affectionately to His Majesty as the motorcade headed towards Istana Negara. - Bernama
