KOTA BARU: It will be a joyful Hari Raya for some 550 B40 families in Kelantan who received a donation of Hari Raya cookies and daily essential items from Yayasan Petronas.

The donation was presented by Petronas East Coast general manager Mohamad Ahmad Shazly Ramli to state Welfare director Said Sidup witnessed by Kelantan deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.

Shazly said the 550 families were from 10 districts in Kelantan who have been receiving monthly assistance from the state Welfare Department.

"This programme is one of our ongoing commitments to help provide basic needs to the less fortunate in celebrating the coming Hari Raya.

"It also one of our efforts to reduce their burden and to further strengthen our relationship with the community," he said.

For this year's Hari Raya Aidilfitri programme, Shazly said a total of 4,900 families throughout the country including 1,350 families in the East Coast states would receive the donation.

Recipient Masliza Che Mohamed, a Person With Disability from Lundang, thanked Yayasan Petronas for the donation.

"This donation will ease my burden in celebrating the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri," said the 52-year-old mother of two.

Student Mohd Azraie Altaf Abdul Rahman said the daily items would be used to make dishes during Hari Raya.

"I will give them to my mother and l am sure she will be happy to get all this kind of items such as rendang and instant ketupat," said the 12-year-old student at SK Lundang.
