HULU SELANGOR: With three days left till polling for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, both Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional are taking to social media to get voters residing outside the constituency to return to vote.

Pakatan Harapan’s Pang Sock Tao said the coalition had uploaded videos in different languages calling for outstation voters to return home on May 11 to cast their ballots.

“This is part of our strategy. We want them to come back and vote,” she said, adding that the message of the videos was that this was how voters could contribute to the development of their hometown.

Another video was of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who posted a message on her social media channels aimed at KKB’s outstation voters.

“We appeal to voters of Kuala Kubu Baharu to make your way home to vote this weekend,” Yeoh says in Bahasa Malaysia in the video.

Similarly, Perikatan Nasional’s activists have also been working hard to track down and persuade outstation voters to return.

Perikatan candidate Khairul Azhari Saut said there were at least 1,000 new voters who are eligible to vote in the by-election due to the automatic registration of 18-year-olds as electors.

“We are working hard to reach these people,” Khairul Azhari said when met.
