KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 75,000 Grade A, B, and C eggs were sold out within three hours at a wholesale store in Chabang Tiga, following a surge of customers.

A survey revealed that people started lining up as early as 7am, even though the store only opened for business at about 7.30 am.

Store manager Nursyzanil Adha Ramli said they received 2,700 trays of various eggs today, with 2,500 trays of Grade A, B and C eggs being sold out within three hours, leaving only 200 trays of premium and free-range chicken eggs.

He said there was no purchase limit set for buyers, causing all Grade A, B, and C eggs to be sold out quickly.

"The sale of eggs was very brisk with the supply of Grade A, B, and C eggs running out before 11am, resulting in some customers leaving empty-handed.

"Additionally, there was a slight reduction in the supply received, compared to the usual 4,600 or 5,000 trays, but the supply deliveries remain stable," he said.

Meanwhile, char kuey teow vendor Mohd Hafizi Rusli, 41, said he requires 10 trays of eggs daily for his business and the reduction in egg prices has been benefited his business.

"Previously, I bought Grade B eggs at RM12.90, but the new price is RM12. This allows me to save between RM250 and RM270 per month.

"That's why I'm willing to wait in long lines to secure my supply," he said.

Hafizi hoped that the egg supply would remain stable as it is an essential ingredient used by vendors and households.
