KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has denied claims that its chief commissioner had defamed the director-general of a government enforcement agency to the media and other agencies.

It said the slander was spread using a fake account set up using the name of chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki.

"(MACC) has detected the spread of defamatory accusations against the director-general of a government enforcement agency to media agencies and other government agencies through a fake email account using the name of the MACC chief commissioner.

"MACC denies the information contained in the email has anything to do with the chief commissioner, nor this commission," it said in a statement.

The statement said the commission urged the public not to spread or share any fake information.
