KLANG: Selangor residents affected by the shutdown of four water treatment plants (WTP) yesterday are hoping for a quick restoration of their water supply.

As a result of a brief notice yesterday, many people, especially those working, did not have enough time to store water.

Taman Sri Andalas resident Yusri Ramli said his residential area here was a hotspot for water supply disruptions whenever there was a shutdown of WTPs.

He said yesterday afternoon, the water supply to his home had been cut off, but he was able to store water after learning of the impending disruption.

"Fortunately, I was not working yesterday and today, so I stored water after receiving the notification," he said.

"I started collecting water at the Taman Rakyat One-Stop Service Centre (PKS) yesterday for my children to use before going to school.

"I'm collecting water for the second time today. I hope the water supply is restored soon because it's tiring to go back and forth."

Another resident, Muhammad Nasrun Yazid, said he had to consistently fetch water between his burger stall and house.

"This is actually the fifth time at 10.30am that I have gone back and forth to collect water because I will be opening my burger stall at 4pm.

"It is really difficult when there is no water, especially since I have two school-going children," he said.

"I hope that the water will be back to normal this afternoon and that this problem won't endure," he added.

Air Selangor said the water supply disruption impacting millions of users in seven districts in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur had been restored by 14.3 per cent at 9am this morning.

It also said that the supply disruption would be completely resolved by Friday at the latest.
