KUALA LUMPUR: Air Selangor confirmed three water treatment plants which were temporarily halt due to pollution have resumed operations as of 9pm today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement said the plants at Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) have all commenced operations.

"Air Selangor is doing our best to mitigate the impact to the consumers. Alternative assistance through water tankers had been mobilised to the affected areas by giving priority to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funeral service centres during this period of unscheduled water supply disruption."

Earlier at 6pm, one out of the total four WTP affected, Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant (Rantau Panjang WTP) was reopened.

The water disruption was caused by an odour pollution incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah. It caused water disruption at seven Air Selangor regions which are Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor regions are experiencing unscheduled water disruption.

Earlier it was reported that more than 1,000 areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will experience water supply disruptions following odour pollution detected in Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah. 

"Air Selangor is doing our best to mitigate the impact on the consumers.
