IPOH: The police did not approve the planned gathering in front of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Tambun parliamentary office in Meru Raya on Saturday.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the Selamatkan Malaysia secretariat's application for the gathering did not meet the conditions under the Peaceful Assembly Act.

He said the police detected a video about the gathering on Facebook on Thursday (July 25).

"We received the application for the gathering on Wednesday (July 24).

"The application was found to be incomplete and did not comply with the conditions as stated in the Act," he said in a statement on Friday (July 26).

"Therefore, the police would like to advise the people not to join the gathering, as it would be an illegal assembly.

"Stern actions will be taken by anyone who joins the assembly, as it did not get the permit from the landowner," he added.
