PUTRAJAYA: An additional allocation of RM100mil has been announced to beef up security facilities along the northern border of Peninsular Malaysia.

Announcing this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this allocation was necessary, taking into account the poor conditions of the current border security facilities.

He ordered for the money to be released as soon as possible to allow upgrading works to commence.

The announcement comes ahead of the Prime Minister’s upcoming meeting with his Thai counterpart Srettha Thavisin.

The two leaders are expected to meet early next month to discuss several issues including border security and how to spur economic growth and development in the northern parts of the peninsula and southern Thailand.
