KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Junz Wong is questioning why "preferential treatment" has been given to certain foreign companies operating in Sabah.

The Parti Warisan vice-president claimed that government policies favour external interests over local needs.

He raised the disparity in electricity rates, where foreign investors pay lower rates than Sabahan businesses.

Wong asked Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe for more transparency over such policy decisions.

"These are not just my concerns, many Sabahans are seeking answers," said Wong in a statement on Monday (Aug 12), adding that the state faced ongoing electricity and water supply issues.

Wong said that the government must prioritise the welfare of Sabahans, claiming that the current hardship locals face was due to poor policy decisions and mismanagement.
