KUALA LUMPUR:  Human rights group Lawyers for Liberty will hold a press conference tomorrow over the failure to act upon the assault of a deaf and mute e-hailing driver by a VVIP escort in May.

They are also expected to release the dashcam recording of the assault during the press conference.

In a statement today, LFL said since the alleged assault on Ong Ing Keong on May 28, no one has been arrested or charged over the assault.

"It has been about four months since the incident and several press conferences have been called to seek justice for Ong but the matter has yet to be resolved.

"Lawyers for Liberty will be holding yet another press conference at their office tomorrow to help him seek justice. 

"The recording of the incident which was caught on Ong's dashcam is also expected to be released to the press during the press conference, after no action was been taken by both the Attorney-General's Chamber and police."

Ong was allegedly assaulted by a VVIP security escort outside the St Regis Hotel on May 28.

Ong and his lawyers, as well as representatives from the Deaf Advocacy and Wellbeing National Organisation Malaysia are expected to be at the press conference tomorrow at 2.30pm.

Earlier on June 5, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that investigation papers on the case had been sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers.

On July 10, the former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner, Latheefa Koya, who is also Ong's lawyer called out the A-GC and police for failing to take any action on Ong's assault case.
