KUANTAN: Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today commended the police following their crackdown on illegal e-waste factories, especially in Salong, Pekan and Bukit Ibam in Muadzam Shah, Rompin.

The Regent congratulated the Anti-Money Laundering Criminal Investigation Unit (Amla) led by Amla Criminal Investigation Unit chief Datuk Muhammed Hasbullah Ali.

"Investigations have to be done transparently. I express my full support for the police to intensify operations to combat illegal activities in Pahang.

"I decree the other enforcement agencies - such as the Pahang State Enforcement Unit, state Forestry Department, Department of Environment and local authorities - to increase enforcement to curb environmental crimes."

Tengku Hassanal urged all quarters to uphold the decree by Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to safeguard valuable treasures, such as flora and fauna, as well as water resources in Pahang.

Yesterday, Hasbullah said police, acting on information from Tengku Hassanal, had conducted simultaneous raids in Pahang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Johor on Aug 5, which had led to the arrest of 10 people, including a man with a Datuk title, and 45 foreigners.

He said the raids had led to the seizure of assets and heavy machinery worth RM43.19mil.
