HOME Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has been severely criticised by detractor for using his political position to mount an attack on PAS supremo Tan Sri Hadi Awang.

Ratu Naga - the political activist and social media influencer with a pro-opposition slant - ticked off the PKR secretary-general that it is a “standard practice” in Malaysia that a minister cannot misuse the ministry’s letterhead to attack a political party.

“You also cannot engage in politics using the ministry’s letterhead or government assets for political purposes. That’s wrong,” penned the former PKR Wanita information chief whose real name is Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah in a Facebook post.

“I know you were born in Singapore and your parents are from Indonesia but as a native Malaysian, I want to enlighten you so that you are aware of our practice in Malaysia. This is my advice with the hope that you don’t repeat what you’ve done. Thank you.”

In a lengthy statement yesterday (Sept 17), Saifuddin who recently stepped down as PKR secretary-general to focus on the same capacity in Pakatan Harapan (PH) - has hit put at PAS under the leadership of its president Tan Sri Hadi Awang as having strayed far from the Islamist party’s original cause.

He described PAS’ rhetoric during its recently concluded 70th muktamar (general assembly) as “the pinnacle of politics of hate” where slander and insults were hurled against political opponents.

Saifuddin who was replaced by Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh ss the new PKR secretary-general further cast PAS under Hadi’s presidentship as hypocrites who fantasise about seizing power but are devoid of ideas on tackling societal woes except sowing hatred among the people.

“Do the various abuses (of power), hostilities, and hatred coming from PAS indicate that the party today is driven more by their impulses (nafsu) and has lost Allah’s mercy?” he questioned.

“Do PAS members realise that beneath the Quranic and Hadith-laden arguments lie attitudes and behaviours that actually deviate from Islamic teachings?”

Aside from Ratu Naga, Syed Ahmad Fadhli who is PAS MPs’ coordinating officer at the National PAS headquarters, also chided Saifuddin whom he described as “YB Senator Minister” for having shamelessly attacked PAS’ and Marang MP Hadi using his Home Minister position.

“He himself cannot sit still when PH is reprimanded but he himself has the chic to term PAS a Khawarij group or religious extremists,” berated Syed Ahmad.

“It would be good if the minister who lost the election was punished by the people of his own area to learn the difference between party and government positions. But the Madani governance tends to legitimises such wrongdoing. The law seems to be enforced only for the opposition.” - Sept 18, 2024
