KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) member Ahmad Fauwaz Fadzil is heading the special committee probing GISB Holdings' doctrines to eradicate deviant teachings.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said the committee, which comprises five other experts, is in the midst of preparing an akidah rehabilitation module for children.

"The committee held its first meeting and has been given two months to prepare the module.

"The module should be ready by the end of November," he told reporters after attending the World Quran Symposium launch at the World Trade Centre today.

It is learnt that Fauwaz is the son of the late Datuk Fadzil Mohd Noor.

It was reported that the committee would be supervised by Nai'm's office, which would support the authorities, including the MKI with data and research.

The issue related to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd will be brought before the National Committee on Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia (MKI).

On Sept 11, police rescued 402 minors from alleged exploitation in a major operation across two states under Op Global.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain saidthe victims, aged between one and 17, were allegedly exploited at 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

He had said that the victim endured various forms of exploitation and abuse including being sodomised.

GISB has since denied the allegations and threatened legal action against those who defamed the company.
