Millions, even Billions of People on Earth pursue wealth as an end itself. Their entire waking moments are spent in getting riches. Well, according to the BiBLE WEALTH IS ACTUALLY A BY-PRODUCT OF WISDOM’
In 1 KINGS 3:5 GOD appeared to King Solomon in a dream by night: and GOD said, “ASK WHAT I SHALL GIVE THEE.”
Solomon was only recently crowned king as a young man. He had a whole nation to rule and care for. So he requested,” Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?” His prayer can be divided into 3 points:-
No.1 ) Give your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people.
King Solomon regarded himself as a servant and the subjects under him are God’s people. Give your servant an understanding heart. Understanding denotes intelligence. And more –
No.2 ) That I may discern between good and bad
To discern means to distinguish and differentiate right from wrong, good from evil, black from white. In a word, “WISDOM”. It is more than knowledge. For knowledge is the gathering of facts. Wisdom is the practical application of knowledge to all areas of our lives.
N0. 3 ) For who is able to judge this Your so great a people?
Solomon’s prayer ended with a question mark? Who is able to handle so many people. How many? Well millions. To manage a Company of million employees, great skill and wisdom is needed. In ancient times, surrounded by hostile nations a King need more wisdom to provide for all his subjects and keep them safe. Who is able?
And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. And GOD said to him, because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked for the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment
“Behold, I have done according to your words: lo, I HAVE GIVEN YOU A WISE, AND AN UNDERSTANDING HEART; SO THAT THERE WAS NONE LIKE YOU BEFORE YOU, NEITHER AFTER YOU SHALL ANY ARISE LIKE YOU.
AND I HAVE ALSO GIVEN YOU THAT WHICH YOU HAVE NOT ASKED, BOTH RICHES AND HONOUR: SO THAT THERE SHALL NOT BE ANY AMONG THE KINGS LIKE YOU ALL YOUR DAYS.”
GOD’S SPEECH IN ANSWER IS LONGER THAN SOLOMON’S SPEECH IN PRAYER. If we are willing to listen, GOD actually want to tell us A Lot Of Things.

In answer to prayer GOD gave King Solomon great wisdom. 3 Books of the Bible’s 66 Books (Actually 70 books, if Psalm is divided into 5 books) were written by King Solomon, they are PROVERBS, ECCLESIATES & SONG OF SONGS.
GOD ALSO GAVE HIM WHAT HE DID NOT ASK FOR – RICHES & HONOUR. SOLOMON became the Richest King ever lived. All the cups, plates, bowls and drinking vessels in his palace were made of pure gold. Silver were regarded as stones on the roadside. Such was King Solomon’s granduer and opulence.
WEALTH IS THEREFORE THE BY-PRODUCT OF WISDOM.
