Today is the LORD's Day again

I want to share on Proverbs 12:13 “A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.” 

This Book of Proverbs as we know was written by a Jew called King Solomon. And he is the wisest man in his time

The Jews being able to follow his writtings have become the most intelligent people on earth. As well as anyone who read Proverbs

And today we want to expound on this verse

"A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved"

We are more concern with showy leaves & fruit because they are visible. But that is not the 1st concern.

The 1st concern is "THE ROOT" - the hidden part of the plant or tree.

ROOT speaks of Foundation & Source.

THE ROOT OF THE RIGHTEOUS

IT MEANS RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE HAVE ROOT THAT CANNOT BE MOVED

Let's quote some comments

Verse 3. - A man shall not be established by wickedness. Man is metaphorically compared to a tree, especially the olive. Wickedness gives him no firm hold for growth or life (comp. Proverbs 10:25). The root of the righteous shall not be moved. The righteous are planted in a good soil, are "rooted and grounded in love" (Ephesians 3:17), and the root being thus well placed, the tree is safe, and brings forth much fruit (comp. ver. 12; Job 14:7-9). Vers. 4-12 contain proverbs concerning the management of a house and business.

12:1 Those who have grace, will delight in the instructions given them. Those that stifle their convictions, are like brutes. 2. The man who covers selfish and vicious designs under a profession of religion or friendship, will be condemned. 3. Though men may advance themselves by sinful arts, they cannot settle and secure themselves. But those who by faith are rooted in Christ, are firmly fixed. 4. A wife who is pious, prudent, and looks well to the ways of her household, who makes conscience of her duty, and can bear crosses; such a one is an honour and comfort to her husband. She that is the reverse of this, preys upon him, and consumes him. 5. Thoughts are not free; they are under the Divine knowledge, therefore under the Divine command. It is a man's shame to act with deceit, with trick and design. 6. Wicked people speak mischief to their neighbours. A man may sometimes do a good work with one good word. 7. God's blessing is often continued to the families of godly men, while the wicked are overthrown. 8. The apostles showed wisdom by glorying in shame for the name of Christ. 9. He that lives in a humble state, who has no one to wait upon him, but gets bread by his own labour, is happier than he that glories in high birth or gay attire, and wants necessaries.

Root speaks of foundation. Righteous speaks of Right Foundation. True foundation. Solid foundation. Foundation in family. They learn the virtue of constant study and learning, honest hard work. Referring to business it speaks of enterprize that brings good to the well being of others. Services or goods for people that in turn generate an honest profit.

No short cut or cutting corners in business dealings. Giving just weight & just measure of value to customers. 

NOW A PERSON, A FAMILY, A NATION  OR BUSINESS THAT FOLLOW THE ROOT (FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE) OF DOING RIGHT WILL NEVER BE MOVED

Moved speaks of being found to err, or to suffer or to break any law. IT IS STRONG, STABL:E & CAN WITHSTAND ANY CRISIS

LIKE A TREE WITH FIRM ROOT THAT CAN WITHSTAND A TORNADO OR SCORCHING DROUGHT WHEN OTHERS WHOSE ROOTS ARE ROTTEN (BUSINESSES THAT ARE CORRUPTED BY DECEIT, SHORT CUT THAT SHORT CHANGED THE CUSTOMERS OR ITS OWN EMPLOYEES OR SHAREHOLDERS) WILL FALL BECAUSE IT HAS NO ROOT

SO IN INVESTMENTS THE FUNDAMENTAL ASPECT COMES FIRST & FOREMOST

1) IS MANAGEMENT HONEST AND COMPETENT?

IS THE NATION DOING WHAT IS RIGHT

A True Christian is proven not by his words alone but by the Fruit in his life. A pure heart will show forth pure words of wisdom. An evil heart will follow lies, deceit and take short cut to cheat to get wealth. A business that cut corners will end up being cut to pieces eventually. But a business based of hard work, integrity, providing goods & services of value to fellowmen will eventually be rewarded
