Mr. Tan has more than 20 years experience in financial services having worked in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore at Credit Suisse Securities, J.P. Morgan and Arab Malaysian Securities. He joined Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad Group (TCMH Group) in May 2016 as Senior General Manager in the President's Office managing Investor Relations and Corporate Planning activities. He was also being assigned additional role as the Head of Financing Services Department in year 2018. Mr. Tan was later promoted to Executive Vice President and Head of Insurance Division in year 2020. 

Mr. Tan also sits on the Boards of several subsidiaries of TCMH Group. Currently, he is the Head of Financial Services Division of TCMH Group. His current responsibilities covering business operations of the Financial Services and Insurance Divisions, Corporate Planning and Investor Relations. Mr. Tan also assumed the role as Principal Officer of Warisan Captive Incorporated since July 2020.

Cousin of Dato' Tan Heng Chew, who is a Director and major shareholder of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad.

Mr. Tan Soon Huat, being cousin of Dato' Tan Heng Chew and serves as a Director of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad and certain subsidiaries, he also holds executive functions in Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad Group.
