in future all psychologists have to be Buddhist experts and mindfulness meditation experts, that's how I see it and that is the direction how the profession is going.

Buddha is the original, world's first expert on happiness and expert on modern psychology.

my original thoughts on Russell's treaties on happiness....

of course being logical is better than not logical but....there is a natural limit how much intellectuals and logics alone can contribute to societal and individual happiness.

there is also the question of individual differences, cultural differences, processes, hormones, lymphatic systems, biology, chemistry, life experiences, learned differences,

modern science is tackling the question on all fronts. ...but two words gains significance recently...it is meditation and gratitude, .

and how habits determine every thing.

mindfulness meditation is so popular nowadays that Singapore University, Singapore Management U both have mindfulness meditation professors teaching you mindfulness meditation for all sorts of problems including student problems, marriage problems, pain therapy, even cancer cure and general purpose all in therapy for every thing.

mindfulness meditation is supposed to make all students happy.

Steven Covey is about success not happiness.
Andrew Matthews talks directly about happiness....

and that Harvard Professor guy is greatly influenced by Buddhism specifically Tibetan Buddhism.

the hottest topic on happiness today in all Ivy League campuses is called mindfulness meditation.

Andrew Matthews another true expert
but more of a motivational speaker than a scientist.

I can talk sikit sikit about the subject because I sit through all 24 lectures by that Harvard Hal.
Reading the postings here...every body thinks he is an expert on happiness and nothing else to learn...but they are all wrong.

you also can try to tell me all the LLA entries since listing. and its implications ...no fund manager understands it .

If you know the Felda directors....you will know none of them understood the Land Lease agreement with 100 years projections.

I tell you.....no one understands their Land Lease Agreement, not even the directors.....so , please don't buy this share.

The directors don't understand the land lease agreement, the fund managers don't understand the LLA, I suspect even the auditors don't fully understand the LLA...so please don't buy this share.

they call themselves the best of the best.....the best of the best is pampered by everyone and everyone wants to be associated with the best of the best. But who are these best of the best 10A+ students? In many cases these best of the best students cannot even write proper letters.

If serious want to help the poor. Pls put efforts to find out those really poor and qualified. I see my many uni friends one person get few scholarships.

To me charity and CSR is just that...it is charity and CSR. Not a competition, and not just reserved for the best of the best who already have plenty of alternatives.
Charity and CSR is not reserved for the best of the best....it is to promote sharing and upwards mobility of the poorer people.

By catching them at source, you have the advantage of giving them guidance, encouragement ....people who otherwise do not even have the big dreams.

I got a suggestion.

Perhaps Mr Koon and friends can go to the schools around Ipoh and ask the Headmasters and teachers to nominate students they can sponsor / finance, instead of waiting for applications.

By going to the source, the chances is good that it will be money well spend. Nominated by people who actually know the candidates. Some local boys / girls who deserve help.

I guess what I am saying is...Don't throw out the baby with the bath water.

In China, they sell the refined products to a monopoly market at a high fixed price in an environment of falling crude prices ....of course they make super profits.
In the West, the product prices are immediately marked down to latest crude prices even when the raw materials were bought at a high price....of course, they suffer like hell.

....Malaysia is more and more like China...operated every thing in a monopoly situation, every thing sapu by the Party.

it is actually the other way round.....Refineries in the West had a horrible year...Refineries in China had a fantastic good year .

speculators are speculating the deal will be aborted.
no use......a fundamental valuation has been set at around $2.

in an unhedged situation, Shell makes super profits when oil prices keep going up....and disastrous when oil keep dropping. To understand it, you have to understand how the products are priced.

SHELL predict strong crude oil price recovery within 1-2 years. Thus, cash out now from refinery is the best timing.

only 2 explanations
1 they have screwed up their hedging policies
2 it is an obsolescent plant that is useless.

if the business model is....
buy crude oil, refine it....few months later sell at lower price...the oil market has been dropping for a year....do it long enough even grandfather money also not enough.

2 kinds of happiness.
- Happiness from acceptance. From free of worries and desires.
