Just before the Year of the Water Rabbit draws to a close and we welcome the Year of the Wood Dragon on Feb 10, the KLCI managed to surpass the stiff resistance level of 1,500 points on Jan 15.

Mabel has been following Nvidia since Covid 19. Never interested in it as it link to crypto as Mabel think it is speculative and it is fluctuating. Nvidia was then a proxy to Cryto. It was only due to Generative AI, data centre and gaming that Nvidea rockets. Meta was a about dream while AI is about efficiency just like internet. It makes lives easy for everyone.

HLIB said current oversold and undemanding KLCI’s CY2024 valuation at 13.6x P/E (slightly below -1SD vs 10Y mean), a decent 4.1% CY2204E DY and all-time low foreign shareholding (end-Dec: 19.5%) would help to cushion any sharp correction.

Talking about Data Centre, today Mabel managed to collect more YTL Power capitalizing on the Short Seller Margin Call. Today is their t+3 which means their settlement date of a security transaction that occurs three business days after the transaction date. The settlement date is when the ownership and money transfer of the security takes place.

Margin trading is the practice of borrowing money from a broker to buy stocks or other securities, using the purchased securities as collateral for the loan. Margin trading allows you to invest more than you normally would, or to diversify your portfolio with more securities. However, margin trading also involves more risk and complexity than investing with cash.

Mabel is still accumulating YTLPower because it tied up with Nvidia in AI data centre business and data centre assets are becoming the next growth phase of the utility sector. As it is Mr Market have not given any value yet to YTLP's AI data centre business just yet.

At the current prices, the market is only giving a fair value to PowerSeraya (RM3.80 per share) and half of the value to Jordan Attarat Power (RM0.40 per share). This means that Mabel is getting all the other assets (Wessex Waters, Yes 5G, digital bank, WTE plant project, the new 600MW hydrogen-ready CCGT of PowerSeraya, MLFF, potential RE export to Singapore etc) of YTLP for free !!!

In 2018 under Sharil, Sapura Energy’s cash call involved a RM3 billion rights issue of 9.987 billion shares priced at 30 sen each on a 5-for-3 basis, with 1 free warrant for every 10 rights shares subscribed. Another RM1 billion was raised through the issue of 2.397 billion Islamic redeemable convertible preference shares (RCPS-i), offered on the basis of two RCPS-i for every five shares owned, priced at 41 sen each. The RCPS-i are convertible into ordinary shares on a 1-for-1 basis upon maturity on Jan 29, 2024. This means each RCPS will indeed be automatically converted into one ordinary share of Sapura only upon reaching maturity on 23rd January 2024 meaning more shares will be listed on 23rd Jan 2024 by PNB.

Based on the above Mabel takeaway is simple..

PNB’s stake in Sapura Energy, held under its various funds, was only 12.16% before the rights issue. It also fully subscribed for the latter’s Islamic redeemable convertible preference shares (RCPS-i), which were part of a RM4 billion cash call — RM3 billion from a five-for-three renounceable rights issue at 30 sen per share, and RM1 billion via a two-for-five renounceable rights issue of new RCPS-i at 41 sen each.

In simple term that's PNB cost without considering of the 12.16% before the right issues (which is at a higher price) is between 30 to 41 sen per share. As long as Mabel's cost is below (way way below) the PNB Cost, Mabel can continue to Goyang kaki. Fortunately, Mabel does not freeze like a monk. Mabel has been and out of this Battleship with a healthy double-digit profit margin...

With this latest move PNB now hold 37.5% of Sapnrg..

YTL Power International’s (YTLPOWR) subsidiary, YTL PowerSeraya, secured the initial request for proposal (RFP) under Singapore's new Centralised Process framework by the Energy Market Authority.

YTL PowerSeraya will construct a hydrogen-ready CCGT (combined-cycle gas turbine) at its Pulau Seraya Power Station, costing an estimated SGD 800 million, with completion targeted by 31 Dec’27.
