Maybe but have to wait after Nov 2021 :)).

I think their strategy to going back to trusted ID biz not so convincing...they have to compete with DS....in this industry...you have to be specialist, pick your area of speciality and avoid competing with strong co.....for example DS will not go for payment biz and head on with Myeg...vis a vis...Myeg will do a same.

Let see whether Caprice proposal will be consider...there are many parties involved and......as it now Iris is very expensive.

Despite of huge Angkasa members, Angkasa is weak partner. Not a good organiser and manager, too much politic, their aim is to control the boards thru election year in year out...etc. Loosely control and no power to influence ordinary member.

So don't be fool with their millions members....etc.....they are no loyalty in this area......you just want to buy cheapest drugs from most convenient store. They use Angkasa to finance the franchise store but....if they can't compete..surely will die off slowly.....go and visit their stores and compare their prices and services with competitor....

Pharmacy and retailing are not Angkasa strengths and what more to compete with professional, unlike their personal loans biz. Pharmacy is very competitive biz, low margin.....intense competition....Guardian, Caring, Berjaya, Cosway etc are not doing too good....they have to depend on none drugs items to survive.

:)) I said so in day 1.

The best counter in Ace Market, will outperform Salutica (for comparison).

Not only will transfer to Main board but bidding in 2 giants project in their area of expertise. Over RM100B budget....enough for everybody in the industry....guarantee will get...especially under Teraju and they are prominent local player...with local engineering knowledge.

Will do well....will have high impact on small counter...and we have not heard anything yet from use of Ipo money...expansion or takeover...

They are not many competition, further they under Teraju program .....sure thing will get!....RM100B is enough for everybody in the industry. They are overly qualified for main board.

This stock will outperform Salutica (for purpose of comparison )...so you can study Salutica chart (a runaway success).

Jack Ma rally are hype!

Real benefits to local companies (listed in bursa) are minimal/marginal. It benefits Alibaba, sme and entrepreneur than local cos.....

Now he has gone back...without any mou, agreement or meeting with any local cos except CIMB, Maybank, Pos , MAHB (now happy can rent out spaces...old lcct etc).....and all this companies (especially small IT companied flying high without concrete reason...they have nothing!)

Going to be like Multimedia Super Corridor MSC project...that is...the emphasises on property project more than IT/Ecommerce project.

The real catalyst..real jobs/projects for 2017 are HSR (High Speed Rail), ECRL ( East Cost Rail Line) and all the development and infrastructure projects along the lines, terminals, stations, satellite town.

Budget for HSR and ECRL alone will be more than RM100B (RM48B, RM55B and surely will exceed ). Enough for everybody....i.e. players in the industry.

Main contracts will go to contractors and operator but there are thousands jobs, sub contracts, supporting, ancillary services needed.

https://paultan.org/2016/10/21/budget-2017-rm55b-for-east-coast-rail-line-rm100m-for-repairs-to-gua-musang-tumpat-train-tracks/

Last time they supplying to Govt for 15yrs. So this time maybe they have to wait for another 10yrs. Govt will never change their system....their ROI on investment for new systems will not recoup in just 5 yrs.

Do you think currently Chinese tourist bring their cash to shop?

Alipay, Master Visa etc...are no different to Ghl. Each swipe they will earn the same.

The business are the same...instead swipe their Visa now they can swipe Alipay....no new or additional business to Ghl....unless if Nazri are doing his job by bringing millions of new tourist to Malaysia.

Visa and Master also can counter back....by allowing customer to choose if they want to pay in their currency or local currency at point of sales....already in practice in Europe.

Alibaba rally are more hype...where the benefits to Ghl is marginal.

What more important is...in long run Ghl will miss a big chunk of online customer/business (rapid growing), sales from micro retailers (Ghl can't compete with new mobile technology) and growing number of credit card user switch to debit card.

Ghl is ok but the partnership with Alipay has marginal impact to Ghl.

All Chinese tourists will always have their Master and Visa with them, even if they use this card on Ghl terminal, Ghl will earn....so having Alipay in their terminal makes no different to Ghl. The "partnership" will benefit Alipay more than Ghl.

The 2 segment of growth ; a)Internet payment and b) micro retailer (small retailer). This area Ghl will loses out.

1) Ghl Internet payment gateway/systems are not strong, no usp, no barrier of entry and new competitor could easily come in, infact they are losing out to ipay88. Alipay will destroy them easily and I think this is what Alipay aiming.

2) Micro retailer, Ghl has no advantages, ghl can't compete with cheaper mobile solution....e.g. mpos by maxis.

In US some merchant can just buy the credit card terminal from special store and take it to their bank for cheaper rates.

Trend of debit card use in Malaysia are also not good for Ghl as the merchant discount are very small.

I think this is the concern and it might affect Ghl in long term if they are not prepare in this area; 1) technology 2) consumer spending behavior.

Conclusion this Alibababa rally is more hope than substance.

Should read adamkhoo view.

http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/adamkhoo/119055.jsp

The collaboration has marginal effect on Ghl. It's doesn't matter whether Alipay, Mastercard, Visa etc..if it is GHL terminal......GHL will earn.

They are going to target the same merchant and same customer...are they telling currently Chinese shopper using cash to shop?

Does it mean millions of new Chinese shopper coming to Malaysia to shop and stop visiting London, Europe and U.S.A ? Just because now there are merchants already accepting Alipay?

I believe it will be a long time before Alipay could match Visa and Mastercard present worldwide (also political barrier to penetrate Europe and U.S)....so in meanwhile Chinese shopper still will have their Visa/Master Credit card with them. We as a shopper don't care whether merchant want to direct our transaction to Visa or Master right...or later Alipay? No different!

In fact currently for them to pay in their currency is never a problem as merchant in Europe always give them an option whether to pay in Euro or Remimbi at point of sales. I think just a matter of time before Malaysia will follow.

Ghl strength is in physical Credit Card terminal and not in online payment. Alipay targeting big in online sales and it will crush Ghl online internet payment gateway , so others provider like ipay88 etc.

Online payment is the trend ....even malls are worrying!
And for micro merchants their option is not Ghl but Mpos. Obviously Ghl can't compete with them and have no roles. Just read the links below as see how cheap is their solutions

http://www.maxis.com.my/mpos

https://www.softspace.com.my/

This is 2 growing segments Online and Micro retailers and in both segment Ghl going to lose.

Futhermore I'm sure those big chains of Merchants are bank value customer which they will never give it to Ghl to handle. Those merchant finance and banking requirements are all tie up to one big package offer special by bank.

Those merchant discount are not the same as other small merchant pay. This big merchant pay a lot less and they are no room for 3rd party like Ghl to play with it. They will never share with Ghl...they probably will just buy the terminal from Ghl, Nera or Paysys and sign up for maintenance contract.

They let Ali come in.......... slowly this power will strangle them back until they choke

I agree with the writer. Brief but very good write up.

1) Online business/transaction is way to go, even malls are worrying with the trend.
2) Cheaper and new mobile technology is potential threat to TPA....i.e. for start merchant can use devices that connect to their iphone, ipad etc and transmit thru their mobile phone.
3) Alipay slowly will knockout Ghl internet payment gateway, ipay88 etc.
4) Alipay does not benefits third party acquire i.e. Ghl or Mpay ;
a) Alipay just like Visa/Master/Jcb...their objectives it to get as many
merchants as possible to recognise/accept their card...it does not mean
an exclusive merchant, rather from existing merchant with terminal.
b) The growth of Third party Acquire depending on spending pattern of
cardholder and growth of new retailer/business (economy)

For 2016 , Mier and Bank Negara reported there are 2.4% decline in total purchases per card holder and 1.3% decline in total transactions per card holder. First decline since 2012.

Still the same...they acquire base on demands from merchants and bank. Alipays is just a "client" to CIMB. Currently merchant accept visa master jcb amex etc....and Cimb will do the settlement.....now they want them to accept Alipay card.....same or marginal effect.....anyway they being working hard everyday to acquire merchant for banks .

Why Alipay need Ghl? They have everything, on merchant side...bank will cover. Alipay aims to be next Mastercard/Visa....as for local...bank will cover their infrastructure. Ghl just acquiring for bank (certain bank) and provide last miles connectivity to terminal.

As for Online payments...certainly Ali will use their super canggih systems with ability to process in great volume per second.
