Genting, May go past 5 but won’t stay there as we know there are insiders selling ……if the results were so go good we would have seen some action ahead of 25 May. Let’s hope impairment tool is not used. Cost control is major issue with this group.

Foreign institutional investments are peanuts. Blackrock up, but what % holding! Also others are selling as the price has done nothing suggesting net redemption I.e more sellers than buyers.

Watch out for ParkView mgt holder of 45% of shares…..this is the private entity….who trade a lot in Genting group,of companies and the cause of some of the issues….in my humble,opinion. Proper institutions including international fund managers hold 23 % which is less than a normal for a good company…lot of these investors are passive long term …I wonder what they think of this continued under performance and governance issues. Even Yinson’s long time CEO has resigned …as new thinking is needed in this changing market, old strategy won’t do….!

Don’t forget boss private investment entity is run as business to make profit and is more proactive …then Genting the listed entity. That’s why management don’t care about Genting share price. From business viewpoint Genting valuation is 8+ RM using discounted cash flow method of valuation. So business is undervalued ….but share price lagging behind for the reasons stated.

Killed Genting …..very bad move

Genting is the worst performer in medium size companies in the Bursa for sure….management have no clue or incentive to deliver share price growth….boss only uses Genting shares for collateral ….no share buy backs or monetisation of assets …listing or selling of assets only announcements are dud announcements so that he can dump more shares.

Stampid….even if the results are excellent it does not translate into higher share price! That’s the problem with Genting. It has already recovered reasonable well…better than others whose share price has risen. It has to do with lack of trust and governance issues. It is run by the most useless folks and poor share performance has been since 2011.

Genting is not doomed for sure! Basically it is a useless Listed company, it essentially behaves like a private entity of LKT and family. Genting is not independent and certainly not governed independently. Boss has been ceo for ever and so. Deputy ceo! The independent board members are all yes men! Genting listed companies function as a cash cow for LkT private company. There is no incentive to do anything as boss is happy with his wealth generation using the listed entity, through share manipulation, party related transactions getting rid of loss making companies from his private investment to Genting. Makes losses on Genting cruises business and dumps large no of Genting shares to cover losses in open market. Pays high dividends even when company balance sheet does not justify it as he needs money for other things! This is the reality. Genting needs a western CEO or a foreign who is a professional manager from outside the industry! So on conclusion it a corrupt set not to serve the interest of listed company shareholders. Best hope for shareholders is selling of the business which can attest valuation of 8-10 RM at least. But this won’t happen. He won’t even try listing in US despite US business as listing won’t get approved and he wont be able to govern as he does now!

Genting is not doomed, for sure. It is simply useless lites company. It behaves like a private company and boss has dealing in his private company, hence party related transactions. Private entity of Boss uses listed Genting entities as cash cows …. No pressure or desire to do anything as they make money through share manpualtions, high salary, share dumping, party related transactions at disadvantage to Genting the listed entity. In fact they should be allowed to be listed… this my opinion. It Genting was to be sold it probably will get 8-12 RM per share assuming a buyer is there. This is a reality, Genting set up to serve the interests of its major shareholder and his family. Needs western educated professional CEo to run the business sadly I hate to say this! Investors have lost confidence in Genting, after the getting The boss got Genting to buy Investment in Empire resorts from LKT private investment vehicle…at a profit when Empire is making losses! This is basically fraudlemt in my opinion ….or at least unprofessional and the investment ,emt should not have been approved but for significant share holding by the family. It does not end here, as Empire needed fresh funds for working capital further investment was made by Genting….this was picked up by Kenaga and May bank analysts and in my opinion Genting has continued to under performance since than. It shows the boss does not care and can use listed company as his piggy bank. Significant governance issue surprised this kind of behaviour is accepted by the Bursa.

Yes we all know Gentings operations have surpassed 2019 pre covid level….yet the share price which matters most is in doldrums…..why? Well we know why? There is trust deficit in the company is due to poor governance , know body trusts what will be dumped or invested in making it unpredictable and unreliable. No other reason. Has anybody noticed sale of parcel of land in Miami attracted lot of interest and share price reacted only to be a false alarm….this sort of thing make Genting very unpredictable. Stay alert.

We are in this forum because we invest in Genting and want it to do well. However, it is frustrating we know it is undervalued theoretically based on book cost and fair valuation using cash flow, earnings per share etc metrics. The boss major shareholder is not interested in promoting the company to shareholders….as he has no incentive whats so ever, as he can generate profit / earnings just by doing
nothing, there are no roadshows to analysts in countries where they operate etc…very low key. Even TauRX, I am surprised Genting was used to invest rather than boss private investment vehicle? Reason, probability of success is low at least at the onset. For TauRX, the US scientists still don’t believe, there is sufficient end point data and the placebo issue to conclude on TauRX. I will remain invested despite all this. We need to be positive despite the tough reality.

Non Exec members on the Board are Yes men! Hence no real governance. Highest paid CEO and deputy CEO in Malaysia and beyond.

Just read the 2023 annual report. Couple of things stand out. On page 26 it clearly states investments held by chairman and ceo compete directly with Genting! Conflict of interest. This is no no! Secondly the deputy CEO is CEO’s son….so much for governance! I had not realised this, father and son and yet the report goes on about how governance is managed, risk management culture and so on, full of bull shit. This is why the wider investment community lack trust in Genting and this has been covered by some of the analysts as well.

By the way…..Genting is a classic shortlist counter as it is in long term downtrend since 2011 peaking around 11 + and it stages rally within a range….so please don’t be fooled investors who shorted have made money for sure ….Shortist is one who sells shares they don’t own …they hope to buy back cheaper ….so if you say there is a pattern between 4.40 and 5.20 than you would sell at 5.20 and buy back at 4.40 or any where between this range. Only Robles is a catalyst like TauRX can blow the shortist or a take over.

i think we should gather / formulate key pressing questions that would be useful to get answers to….from the AGM.

1qtr results are known…. internally, let’s see if we get a purposeful rally….otherwise more impairments will suddenly emerge from somewhere. Impairments by the way are arbitrary and subjective…most auditors don’t get too concerned as impairments reduces profits and can be seem as being conservative as opposed to lifting a provision or write back of impairments…..

OnTime…..I agree don’t like sell! I invest like many others because it is undervalued. Net asset value is around 8.60 and fair value any thing between 5.40 and 8.60 and with potential of TauRX making it an attractive investment….so I invest it! I am invested elsewhere so no big deal….what really get me is the apathy amongst sum folks in this forum and blind support for Genting…I suspect this due to bias by some. I see so many things wrong the way the company is run! Poor, governance etc. there folks here when the price collapses from 5.20 to 4.50 they keep quiet when it rallies to to 4.57 they say what a recovery! The down trend is from 11. Rm established in 2011….one of the poorest mid size companies in Malaysia. We will know doubt get a rally to possibly 5 and then back down again. Speak up…correct….trust deficit, due to past actions and governance issues. No action is taken to address this…most listed entities who have fiduciary duties to shareholders will take action to improve sentiment…Gentings cant be bothered. However, we are not forced to invest i guess, me only waiting for TAuRX which will happen for sure. Peak achieved in 2011 is long gone.

Another point worth noting and reflects how a business functions is how long it takes to report statutory results, MBS, is able to report within 3 after period end! Genting will report 8 weeks after! No urgency or desire to report as quickly as possible. Different culture and mind set.

Please don’t compare Genting to MBS! Completely different set up. Group CEO Goldstein is not family member. Main shareholder at least recognises and appoints independent CEO. Company is very well run, no insider dealing, no dumping of shares in open market no third party related doggy transactions, and finally use of impairment charges to manipulate bottom line. Overpayment ent of dividends when boss needs cash flow etc etc. no matter how much business prospects grow …bottom line improves will not necessarily translate into share price growth! Just few percentage here and there and dumping starts. All controlled. One of the worst in Bursa! Only saviour for a short period will be TAuRx. At least Taurx is above board….but is a private entity. Genting is carrying the investment at book cost.

Genting Group wont be allowed to list in US market as it won’t meet the regulators reporting requirements, and if it did it is more likely to get fined. If it really wants to make Genting attractive then it should look to list in US!

People just don’t get it! Genting share price has been underperforming since 2011 well before CV19! Why the underperformance? As i have highlighted, before there are many reasons. Poor governance generally, no change in CEO for last 20+ years despite poor performance. Highest remunerated CEO in Malaysia and other countries as well. Share dumping, in open market by key stakeholders, after dubious announcements, interested party related transactions where by poor performing investments held privately are sold to listed Genting entity, at inflated value, use of impairment charges to manipulate results as these charges often there is lot subjectivity, no promotion of company to generate interest via analysts meetings and holding capital markets day etc. Declaring high dividend when company cant afford it as owners needs cash to purchase other investments or to cover losses, eg like Genting Cruise. Only way price is going to rise any where near 8 RM is if TauRX becomes a reality! Otherwise Genting will continue to under perform even if sales and profits recover!

Good results improving results no impact on share price due to other company specific issues …this has been case for some time. Underperformance since 2011….unless there is a windfall giving a very short term opportunity to exit this performing company.

Can’t even present results and promote the company, cant face analysts as independent professional CEOs do. Just watch results presentation by say Rolls Royce of U.K., Aeronautical and not car business….the presentation is electric and informative… gives confidence to shareholders …and he is paid less than Genting!

I am afraid business growth does not always translate into share price growth for a simple reason, share price is determined by supply and demand. I agree normally share price will reflect business peformance, but sadly in Malaysia there are many founded owners from legacy …and these guys play havoc with share price quite often dumping shares in open market armed with inside information making stock market an uneven playing field. Case in point is Genting for example, one of many, this share is plagued with party related transactions, selling interests to listed entities from their private investments, write off of assets, promotion and dumping, private placements with heavy discount, bailing out private held investments etc etc…all,examples of poor governance

Put it another way if you invested in 2011 you would not have made any money ….or should I say capital gain. That is a long period of under performance ….!

How do judge CEO’s performance? Business sales, profitability or share price growth and total returns to shareholders? Genting has been performing very poorly since 2011 when share prices peaked. Since than it has drifted downwards …..so in my assessment CEO has not delivered …look at leading companies CEO they deliver share price growth or they are removed or resign.on top of this he is highest paid CEO by some distance. So I am afraid you cannot say he is ok and has done well? Based on what metrics, just favouritism.

I am confident we will hear about regulatory approval of TauRx by August / September 2024. So worth remain invested in 2024….meanwhile take the dividends a they come. Not convinced about Genting business strategy though …willing to pay high taxes …….not many foreign companies make money in US particularly old business like gambling ….for boss it is ok as he can make money other way by dealing in shares and TP transactions etc

Genting boss behaviour, poor governance and poor marketing of the company are the main issues that has impacted Genting. Party related transactions, dumping of shares in open market and not really focussed on delivering shareholder returns are the main reason. Most companies with such under performance would fire the CEO…but they can’t as CEO owns 40% + shares of the company so nobody can fire him, the independent directors are toothless and part of the poor governance culture. There is open insider trading in these shares…the only opportunity I see in Genting share price is TauRX …even then shareholders will have to be fleet footed…I think as there will be dumping of shares prior to major positive news coming out of TauRX such as likelihood of imminent approval,from regulators…. Followed by big investment flows! This is my conclusion. Incidentally sale of parcel of land in Miami was announced and price went up only later to correct and since than we hear whomever the buyer was has pulled out! How convenient! Think about it there is a pattern.

Back to Taurx….from my sources …TauRX is definitely coming sooner than acclaimed…what immediate immediate it has on Genting share price and allowed by its manipulating major shareholder I am not and 100 % sure. To me the quickest result for general body of shareholders would be acquisition of TauRX by a big Pharma rather than listing etc ….which again be manipulated. This way the value will flow immediately.
