Re dividend..I rather Genting focus on improving its EPS, so that the price recovers. Until EPS grows there will be no uplift in price. They need use cash genrated to reduce interest payment. They did pay not high dividend due to boss not needing the extra cash flow probably for tax reasons!😀This is an issue with large shareholder who runs business as family business as opposed to running for the Shareholders. Their presentations and market up dates awful or simply don’t done, CFO is not active etc etc….that’s why it is stuck for some time.

I guess reasonable progress in terms of revenue generation but the bottom line is impacted by interest on loan as well poor management of cost including CEO pay. The loan issue can be partially resolved by sale of property, monetising businesses or rights issue as opposed to private placement. Unless these actions are taken profitability will remain subdued.

One of the worst run companies …..around. Sorry to say that …no control over cost or business strategy for that matter……evidence the highest paid CEO….for business that generates losses….he get paid more than CEO of Rolls Royce, IAG, Ali Baba, and so on ………all perform better than Genting why….. because they have professional qualified leaders…..not family members…..than we have party related transactions ….now and than to dilute investors …..even more. Only way to make money is to watch out for any party related event…..

One of the most undervalued shares has to be Ali Baba….for sure ….dogged mostly by political issues and now China slow down…..it’s rival Amazon despite correct in its price is valued 7 times more just because it is a US company.

Drug research, development and approval process does take long time. So 15-20 year wait is not extraordinary event. If there was no hope than Taurx won’t be supported and would have been ditched long time ago. The question is whether the long wait will be fruitful? Agree nobody would buy Genting for Taurx….but it does add some spice.

Paying a dividend when you have large debt is not sensible, short term pleasure and long term disaster. Good financial management is needed where costs are brought under control. This has sadly not been the case. Sale of Miami is needed and perhaps selling or listing of Las Vegas business to generate value…unfortunately climate is not right for that either.

Shares and warrants worth a punt. Particularly the exercise price for warrants is 1 RM….they will surely motor once PN17 is removed and business recovery accelerates.

Fines on CIMB will be immaterial ….unlike the bad loan write off few years back….

CIMB again caught out in Singapore. Singapore business for CIMB is an issue….worst loan write off and now money laundering….we all know despite MAS having a reputation for strict regulation officially has been found out ….lot of the money which comes in from China, Russia, India, U.K. etc is black money ….they let it through as it helps the economy, asset prices etc ….

I am sadly predicting half year performance below expectation, you see selling pressure as insiders being to load….normally you should see price rising even though overall market sentiment is pretty bad. Genting has been poor in managing costs and this will filter through lower profitability. The only big catalyst I see is Taurx.

Genting we all know is undervalued ……however the market is bad and Malaysian market has been very bad for some time. Let’s see if the results are much better and if management have been able control costs.

I think I know the valuation method based on more than 20% equity investment in Taurx would be % share of Taurx profits….which would be a loss!

How is Genting B valuing its 20% exposure in investment in Taurx? Is it at book cost or mark to market? Surely it can’t be mark to market as Genting would have much higher valuation!

There is much talk about foreign investors…sadly there are many more suitable better propose than companies out there in the global market than Genting, which fraught with insider dealing or should I say related party transactions ….we need more local medium term investors.

Thank you AngTaylor….interesting article. We know the whole drug approval process is fraught with corruption and power politics particularly in the US. There is conflict of interest for sure. I visited a Well known cardiologist in KL, he suddenly wanted me to try a new medicine…..questionable given I had no changes ….he was being paid by the pharmaceutical company to push this new medicine,which was a US company. Yes, the behaviour outlined in the article is prevalent. In case of Taurx, have they got the financial budget to pay somebody to get the regulatory approval? I would say they are more likely to get approval in U.K. than US, NHS, is struggling and looking for cheaper options than those in the market currently. NHS is simply not geared up to support patients that require invasive treatment and on going monitoring. Let’s see! Hope for the best.

According to friend of mine associated with Medscape U.K. a medical journal. U.K. regulatory approval for Taurx is very likely this year! TAURX have accelerated pathway for approval. The question is when they get approval what will Genting share price do? A 20-30% pop is possible. Then usual profit takers would sell and this will be followed by another up lift from institutional investors when true impact is known. Being overweight in Genting is not a bad strategy.

Poor performance and rate of return is due to poor governance …..and related party transactions over th E years …leading to mistrust by the investing community. In addition there is never forward looking statements by the company …totally nit interested driven by single large owner of shares who is responsible for running the company …hence no incentive

Very promising …indeed ….based in this regulatory approvals should be on the cards. However, we know FDA are funny bunch ….and lot of money is at stake…so unless willing to pay an handsome sum, getting approval may take some time …let’s hope TAURx team have insider connection.

Results are probably not good….impairments remember are creative accounting to get manage results. There is no interest in the management to let the price rise….no effort is being made….in fact quite the contrary, yes, market sentiments are poor, but if you look around globally the recovery stocks have recovered well….Genting is a very strange counter ….lot of small sellers may be acting in syndicate ….that what it looks like!

Sorry paying dividends alone does not mean it is blue chip! The dividend yield is relatively low compared to its sector…most people invested in the shares are hoping for good capital return.

Generally to stock suffers from poor governance. CEO salary is a classic example as well as share transactions mostly dumping following random announcements. Yet there is lot of foreign institutional shareholding. Wish Genting was US listed it would be forced to be more transparent and abide by good governance. Not that US is capital of good governance!

Please note …..both maybank and Genting group unlikely to collapse! Maybank is not an investment bank per se like US and some western banks. Investment exposure is limited and complex product manufacturing is pretty much zero. Only risk is bad debts. But it has plenty of cushion and governance is pretty good. Genting group is also low risk from being bankrupt given it is diversification and attractive portfolio. So please do t waste time talkimg about failing…this is an investment forum focus on the positive side. Maybank is income stock and Genting has the potential for significant capital growth …in the medium term…assuming the owner does not dump shares.

For sure there are no investment experts here! If you follow US, HK and U.K., which I do the falls in prices are pretty much consistent, with some more reflecting specific risk factors such as high borrowing, political risks, etc. Genting group suffers addition risk that is owner May dump shares any time to buy something else like In the case of Musk for example. We know Genting boss has a habit of this, but no more than any other significant investor.

The whole market is in stress, inflation threat remains and further hike in interest in US being priced in…..nothing specific to Genting. All doomsters resurface when there is small, correction and justify the correction by quoting all,kind of things equally opposite happens when there is a rise! Genting share price is underperforming and should be 5.30 plus,,for sure, a catalyst is needed which might be TauRx

Cash flow v profits! …..which is more important? Profits are hit by non cash items, …..for genting post launch of Las Vegas resort depreciation is high …the question is when does it peak? As to impairment …check what impairment actually covers are caused by. If any of assets are are left idle and not be used the values carried in the books are adjusted to the fact that the asset is not generating revenue, hence impairment. One would think if all Genting s business are working and nit left idle, than impairments costs should be lower going forward! The unrealised x currency loss, is not realised and they move with x rate. It would be useful to know when depreciation for LVR peaks!

Taurx, has a real chance of being approved ….that’s what I have been told by a scientist in US who is responsible for one of the big Pharma’s trials…..given the exit of Billy Dunn, at the FDA, is also a big positive. Good news may come between 2-3rd quarter 2023. Shame Genting shares cannot be bought in US

Don’t completely discount HMTM! I have a contact at one of the big Pharma companies in US involved in drug trials and deals regularly with FDA…according to him whilst FDA are picky HMTM is promising despite the placebo issue and may get approval providing test result are replicated over a period. So it is very possible!

This forum is suppose to be for discussing and highlighting news on Genting which may impact share price positively or negatively in a constructive and respectful way. By definition, those of us and hopefully most of people in this form, (otherwise why waste time here) who are invested in Genting are positive on Genting. What we have now is constant bickering and personal attacks, on each other rendering this forum useless. Some of the information both negative and positive is cooked up. Sad state of affairs!

I personally think the results are not too bad, cash is being generated and operating conditions are working, the non cash flow items such impairments and depreciation are accounting related. The fact is Revenue is rising, hopefully one off times that have impacted the bottom line will go. 1st Qtr will be interesting to see if impairments and depreciation remain elevated …there must come a time when depreciation peaks and trends lower. As to impairments they are specific business related write down of value and they can easily go up again. There will be upward surprises in 2023 for sure …..wait and see.

EBITA V Accounting Profit…..a perennial discussion.

Depreciation has no impact on cash flow …..worth noting. Impairment cost of RM 394m is one off. So 1st Qtr will report better numbers.

The only thing certain is that at some point these doggy characters insiders will start buying again and make 10% they do this 4 times year ….not bad result!

Air Asia up 7% and Gamuda has been star performer …..and yet this Genting struggles big time to make headway! Defies logic, as I said before big problem that we have a single dominant shareholder who can cause significant damage by trading ….we had this with Myeg, Serbadk, and many more …..Bursa is full of doggy owners who lack ethics and corporate governance and may even be part of a syndicate as it is easy for them to make money from trading shares

Even Airasia share price is rallying whilst Genting struggles…it has to be internal folks dumping for sure …means the results may be well below expectations …..

Analysts have conflict of interests….they promote shares they have interests in. That said we need to take other issues into account such as political risks as well related party interests. I think Genting is below NAV for a reason, and I think the main risk is party related transactions which quite often have nothing to do with business dynamics. Conclusion is analysts recommendations are one elements of many other information that you need to consider…..if it is worth a buy.
