The share price will make a reversal after a significant correction yesterday…..I am in no doubt. The problem is that uncertainty remains as when another party related transaction will be put through …as there is no control. There was a flurry of transactions to take it above 5 and than a dump prior to announcement of investment in Empire resorts. There is effectively a dilution. Pretty sure there will be some announcement on TauRx soon. Keep a watch out.

@ks5S…..very sensitive aren’t you? I guess there is no honour among thieves. Truth hurts. Very quick to blame Malaysian Green Party politics for Genting underperformance and yet the real reasons are clear to see but due to bias facts are conveniently ignored.

No doubt he will get insiders to buy shares in Genting when full correction has happened! That’s the game which is repeated ….time and time again.

People don’t get it….short term hiccup etc ….this kind of action is not the first time …it is happening time and time again….the guys are crooks with very poor governance ……sure it will recover but the management are involved in manipulating the price by actions they are taking simple! LKT is getting a listed company to make poor investment and bear the losses in a private companies assets which he owns ……. and he does by being a CEO. He should be disqualified to be the CEO….that is the answer …also he pays himself the highest salary paid by any of the listed companies not only here in Malaysia but higher than very reputable complex western companies!m

Let’s be honest …..the boss is a crook….or not a principled and decent man. The independent directors on the board have a duty ….a fiduciary duty towards the company and its shareholders….but they have been nabbed and not worth their jobs…..they rubber stamp what the boss say. As I said Bursa is responsible for protecting the shareholders and ensure the companies listed on the exchange conduct their affairs in an fair and orderly manner…..they should take action.

The impact is minuscule but it is all about a morality of these type of transactions! So unethical …why would a business increase its investment in business which is loss making and to make it worse does not have controlling stake even though it owns 89 % the private entity of mr Lim controls the board! That’s the issue. Bursa should definitely look at these sort of transactions as they destroy confidence in the market!

Keyman….the Kenanga are referring to Genting Malaysia price discount 0f 5% from 3.07 to 2.90 and not Genting ….! It is a mistake ….GenM is the investor and not Genting

In the context of things this equity investment by GenM sends the wrong optics and the financial cost of it is not too significant ….as some will be used to pay bank loan and GenM will see some benefit of this. The key driver still worth watching how Empire Resort is performing …..Can anyone in this forum shed some light ? Is it improving and likely to be profitable in 2023?

On all this nice to have solid counters like Gamuda and Yinson to name a couple …with good governance ethics on the polar opposite we had Serba who pretty much had discounted share placements when the CEO wanted funding for his expensive holidays 😂😂

On the positive side ….think of the psychological side of this action particularly the timing….. price was rallying in anticipation of the results so best time to correct the price is now. Insiders will buy the shares the results are likely to be very good and price will rally again …..this time perhaps after 25 Feb! What the foreign investors make of this game who knows some of the institutions are very touchy on governance matters and this action may be costly. We also have Taurx in all this which big boss can use to activate price rise! The game goes on. Just sharing my thoughts!

Insiders pushed the price to above 5 and than dumped it knowing this announcement will be made …..there is lot,of insider dealing in this counter as there is lack of governance. This is not the first time! We had with Taurx …price shot up and there was massive selling of share in relation to cruise business not owned by Genting)

In companies that have good governance investment is only made if it is going to be beneficial to shareholders ….in this company the ceo and directors are not independent…that why we have the highest paid CEO….in an underperforming company that has delivered negativd shareholder returns over a considerable period …not withstanding CV19

I am pretty sure that there is no cost control Empire Resorts…they pay themselves exorbitant salaries and ask other independent company to pick up cost …quite shameful actually.

Not surprised at all the price has retraced below 5. Let’s see what happens over next month or so. Normally when company is seen as a recovery stock with key indicators being bullish, you expect upward trend. With Genting nobody knows, this is because of the nature of shareholders. I recall few years when indicators improved and price rallied major shareholder dumped shares to cover losses from cruise business. After all share price is dependent on buyers and sellers if you dump shares in the open market the share price will fall no matter how good the underlying business may be. We had example of this with Tesla when shareholder sold shares to buy Twitter. This remains my biggest concern with Genting …..lack of proper governance.

Struggling to go past 5 as expected. Immense selling pressure high volume….we will know around 3-4 pm when European markets open if Genting close 5 plus. It is important that it closes above.

Price needs to breach 5 comfortably….and March on ….further catalyst will come from when major projects are awarded in Malaysia. I have high expectations of Gamuda one of better managed companies in Malayisa.

Truly worthy performance would be for the share price to hit 5.50 plus before annual results …after all share price was 7 RM during 2019 before Covid hit.

Let’s hope the positive momentum is maintained and it is not a false dawn as previously. Many positive factors in play proof of pudding is ultimately in share price performance which can be impacted by insiders dumping shares.

What is the latest news on Taurx getting regulatory approval? No updates at all. I heard that it was positive news in the U.K. but no formal update.

General market can be up…but for Genting it means nothing sadly. Unless we have a major catalyst it will crawl,up and down. Let’s see what happens running up to full year results

Let’s be clear foreign investment has very little impact on share price …. M OST of the telling trades are local. Foreign asset allocation is low other than historical investment. Foreign investors have high threshold for governance which is a concern….when ceo earns more than CEO of Rolls Royce very complex aeronautical engineering company.

We are looking for excuses and rationale for Genting not doing well and conditions that will help the share price. Quite frankly so many positives have already happened and still the share price actually reversed from depth of CONDITIONS that were very bad. So there is no logic for lack of performance other than major shareholder, governance and lack marketing of the company….we expect CEO to be more active selling the company to shareholders unless you own 44 % of shares so no incentive what so ever. This is is an issue. I am big investor in the shares but patience after 2 years is running thin. In Developed markets proactive companies share Capital Markets day when they explain the actions being taken to the shareholders and market.

Genting continues to under perform….management sleeping don’t care for shareholders as mostly family business ….other companies such as CIMB and Gamuda have better management and better focus on returns.

Nasdaq 54 % return, india 18% japan 28 % circa…and we are simply struggling to get going…even if HK / China ,ark et recovers no guarantee Genting will follow…!

When will people realise improved business performance has nothing to do with share price movement particularly in Malaysian stock market. We know business performance has recovered well…and tourist numbers etc all up significantly, Chinese visitors up, political risk low, all other noted reasons for poor performance have been largely addressed…though debt levels are high. Cost control could be improved but major shareholder not concerned , governance is poor….a real catalyst is needed to lift performance …otherwise it will remain in doldrums ….

Are we being delusional with Genting, many other counters in Asia region have recovered well and yet this one and Malaysia in general is very poor. I guess we can always hope and pray! People talk about topping up as if capital is free and has no cost!

Too many held by epf ….they sell make a margin and than return than the share price advances a bit and the whole cycle is repeated ….unless there is a catalyst such selling of the highway concession or new contract ….

Genting on Bull Run! Really. If this is the Bull than I rather have tortoise. Bull run is when stock price moves more than 20% . Genting peaked around 11 in 2010/2011 ever since than even before CV hit it has been on down trend….we are all waiting for the trend to reverse. There are many resistance levels, it struggling to reach 4.70, than it will be 5.0 than 5.35 and so on..at each level there are many sellers…some playing the margin game and others who have held for some time …Genting need a catalyst.

Consider ….YTL management V Genting? The problem with Genting is primarily management. The inability to make the company shares attractive for shareholders ….by telling a story of recovery and potential growth.

COVID = winter / wet season flu……..! Please don’t find another reason for Genting underperformance. When there is demand for share we know what havens …YTL……need a catalyst

Pang72…Genting has been in downtrend since 2010 ….it all depends on how you view the trend line and over what period! At its peak the price was 11+ and has come down before CV struck and ofcourse CV hit hard we know that….but the poor management performance precedes that….let’s hope we can turn the trend and benefit from business growth in the newer markets and the casino bet on Taurx! Let’s hope that sooner rather than later …!

Michael Chan …..44% is owned by ParkView Mgt which I believe is boss holding, actual 24 other main insituional investors account for only 13 % …of which Vangaurd holds 2.5% and Blackrock 1.8% otjers make up,the balance! Remaining 43 % are small investors including private companies ……..the problem to me is the 44% holding ….. this holding info is published.

RISK 8888 there is a reason….it is private brokerage company! 44 % plus holdings and friends who don’t question anything …is a major governance issue…..share price is not driven by performance of the company but demand / supply of shares in the market …these can be controlled of you hav every big shareholding. Companies generally with small ownership holdings do much better ….than ones with large holdings and same management! No new blood or thinking ..personal,bank account.

Given the underperformance of share price ..you would think a change in management is warranted! Shareholders simply are sheep…sLeepy…foreign holding is minuscule and they are not active shareholders if they were they would address the governance issues.

It is good to to be optimistic but not at the cost of being unreasonable. I am supporter of Genting but feel the management are simply not with it ……the downturn began from 2010 …and since has been hit by external events like CV. But the downturn began much earlier. Why? Simple, the company is nit run like a proper shareholder company as the owner still holds large chuck over 40%! Therefore company is own by account, rewards himself with highest CEO payouts despite huge under performance ….his pay is more than some of the big international business ..eg take for example Rolls Royce U.K. aero engine manufacturer …a very technical company….yet the brilliant ceo earns less than half of Gentin ceo! Also buying companies such as Empire with suspect valuation….these are serious Governace issues nobody is willing to tackle! Let’s hope we remain lucky woth TauRx as I can’t see these guys marketing the company.

Excellent results. The words used to describe “ discrepancy” between this year and last year……,! Better vocabulary is last year results impacted by exceptional transaction I which was sale of highway concession!

I hear so much illogical stuff….like Chinese tourists will make a difference, flushing out weak shareholders, window dressing, keep buy on weakness ….! The reality the share price is based on supply and demand more sellers than buyers irrespective of underlying business performance ..the price will drop. Here lies the problem, who is selling all the time? This is typical of share ownership with one single shareholder….most institutions keep,for long term investment….. so this constant selling is on instruction for sure ….

EPF dumping continues ….they dump others sell and they return ..make a return and support pension payment that’s how they make their returns …….simple

Europe and US March on and Genting share price struggles….one would have trebled their investment in 2023 had they invested in certain counters in US and Europe including U.K. Despite dire economic situation this means companies like Genting are for the major shareholder to withdraw wealth of their time of choosing they are not perfect investment vehicles for public investors.

EPF have unloaded and will return soon during December ….for sure.

What happens to Dow has no impact on Genting share price if it had we would be well north of 5! Genting shareholders are strange breed and in particular the problem is the owner stills owns far too many shares hence risk to share price as it can be unloaded any time and in addition there is no effort to market the share price as normal CEO’s f companies do!
