Looking back at MAHB passenger traffic, the research arm reported that during the eight month of 2016 (8M16), it’s total passenger movement for Malaysian and Turkey operations registered at 3.3 per cent and 6.8 per cent year over year (YoY) yield to date (YTD), respectively.

Unsurprisingly, Turkey’s passenger growth came in below estimates by Kenanga Research but Malaysia’s came in above.

“We believe Malaysian passenger growth will likely meet our expectation or potentially outperform being supported by the stronger travel demand from international traffic, introduction of new routes and increased flight frequencies from airlines with improve load factors,” opined the research arm.

According to a sector update by the research arm of Kenanaga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga Research), AirAsia is exceeding their expectations for the second consecutive quarter with it’s second quarter 2016 results (2Q16) as the research arm had previously overestimated cost assumptions.

AirAsia’s share price has previously peaked at RM3.25 in August but pulled back to RM2.88 level on the research arm’s cut off date in September.

Kenanga Research believes that the share price peak of 11 per cent was mainly due to AirAsia’s outperformance in it’s 2Q16 results and news flow on the sale of their leasing arm, Asia Aviation Capital (AAC) being valued at USD$1 billion.

Additionally, these good results are expected to continue further supported by current low fuel cost environment, improving yield from better ancillary income, and improving load factors on stronger travel demand.

Furthermore, the research arm also noted that there would be a potential special dividend to be announced once the sale materialises in either 4Q16 or 1Q17.

“Meanwhile, the pullback was likely due to the equalisation of passenger service charge (PSC) charges in all airports in Malaysia to be officially announced in 4Q16 – effectively hiking up Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 2 international and domestic PSC charges by 128 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively,” projected the research arm.

This may result in the deterring of travelers but the research arm argues that the impact would be minimal towards AirAsia as most of it’s international flights are flown towards the ASEAN region which will fall under the new RM35 Asean segment which would allow AirAsia to continue maintain their competitive pricings.

Therefore, Airasia is cheapest airline company in the world. They are currently trade at PER 4 times of their current earning for the last 4 quater 70 cents annually.

This 70 cents may higher after coming 3rd and 4th quarter results this year.

That is the reason i believe the Airasia will be revalue by near future. When the PER have reach 8 times or higher i will only consider to sell.

All US airline stock up yesterday especially southwest up abt 5% yesterday, fund manager start to goreng airline stock after one month slip since End of August.

Global Fund manager will start to buy Asia Airline stock in near term providing Crude Oil price drop recently and estimate to maintain low price for a long period.

Southwest market Cap USD 23.9 billion, compare Airasia USD 0.2 billion, is about 120 times.

Better you buy 2.76 now, don't waste the opportunity....look like rebound sign...anywhere 2.76 also a good entry

The raising fare of PCS will apply same rate among KLIA and KLIA2. This movement is very obviously to help MAHB to get huge profit plus helping MAS to push their load factor....

How to compare KLIA and KLIA2 with same rate, really unfair.....

All people know KLIA in term of more advance facilities, of course need to pay more, MAHB need to pay more maintenance cost for sure.....

KLIA also with better location compare KLIA2.

The few months back, government already increase train fare from KLIA 2 to KL with more than 100%, looks like government want to pull back Airasia's expansion.

If PSC rate hike is confirmed, very soon, if MAS load factor still on low rate, then the next move will be KLIA2 airport tax will higher than KLIA....what a funny decision, looks like same case as Proton Brand.....

the market momentum is bad, so fundamental not applicable & unable to reflect the true value.

Even AA realised EPS 78cents on full year 2016 by end of the year , they also can said discount EPS 30%(as AA account can not trust one) & apply 5 times "their assuming current AA real value" then with super low TP of RM2.73. but AA book's net profit is RM2,170,000,000.00

Up to them, sure have buyer to accumulate as AA have bright future till end of year 2017.

AA need to have long term substantial shareholder like EPF....they are also disposed.....

AA 2016 EPS : 1Q 31.5, 2Q 12.3,

If JP morgan estimate AA no profit Q3 & Q4, still got 43.8, times 7 = RM3.06,

They use core profit(lower profit) to count EPS. then AA need to earn more than RM2 billion, then only can sustain RM3 and above.
